This is a question about gaining people's trust, as they told me over Skype they would have shot me eventually, if I never joined up on their conversation.

Yes, there is indeed some people who feel a moral pledge, and state out their limit of actions before it gets.. just bizzarre.

This is probably the closest you can get to true banditry, and not just random griefing or shoot-on-sight, as people do nowadays.

I'm terribly sorry if you've never had the imagination for such actions, and my guess is that you rarely have fun in this game.

If it went down the way you described then i wouldn't even call it banditry, but survival. They threatened to kill you if you didn't talk to them. So you talked to them, just as they demanded. Then they were stupid enough to forget the initial threat while you didn't.
