Night Time

Hey, Im fairly new but what do I do at night time? Like seriously, It's pitch black I cant see anything. I might aswell just turn my monitor off and it'll be the same.

Night time offers its own challenges. You can "cheat" and crank up the Gamma in your Video Options to see better. Or, you can bust out your flashlight, or throw chemlights. It may seem dull, but that can be said about so much of this game. It is what you make of it.

The other night my best friend and I decided to stay on a night time server, and we were wandering through the forest with flashlights. It was like that Blair Witch movie. except it didn't suck. Just tense and frightening.

But if it's not your cup of tea, find servers that are daylight when you play. Most servers have their timezone listed in the server hostname in the server list (example, GMT-8). You can filter the list by timezone. Beware the occasional server that lies about its timezone.

It's not ideal but you can turn up your gamma settings in the video options. Either that or wait for a clear sky or a moonlit night. Or change server if it's that bad. Or use your torch, flares or chemlights. If your lucky, one day you might find some NVG's.

I can't find anything, been running I've been running about for a hour and I can't find shit.

I love the night time, its the only sure safe way to loot, unless there are bandits out there with NVG's then god help you.

Map plus night time is not a big deal if you know where you're going. It points you in the right direction, all you have to do is listen for zombies. Finding loot is a pain, though.

Find a daylight server, otherwise.

I know how you feel. The first time I played at night I was like OMGWTFGTFO. Now it's no big deal ... you do get used to it, and night vision goggles help.

I admin US 1550 and US 2522. I have regular Aussies on my servers, so the ping should be set plenty high for you. The two servers are set aproximately 10 hours time zone apart from each other. When it's night on one it's day on the other. This gives my players a choice as to which enviroment they want to play at any given moment. I'd be very happy to see you jump in and give them a try.

One of my biggest peeves are server admins that set the GMT in the title but have the server running 12 hours off :/

actually, the OP is right in this regard, since the last patch it's been completely pitch black on every server i find, can't even see my character, or my gun.... yeah...... it used to be better, dark dark grey, but seeable, and i was able to loot then, though i still had to be really careful cause zed's blended in still. either way, i'm playing on day servers until it gets a bit brighter, just so i can SEE.

It can be pretty dark. And lately, even with Gamma up, it is still really dark at time. And raining + dark equals the worse. Good luck seeing anything then.lol Luckily, I found a pair of NVG.

I will say that chemlights and flares tend to be underappreciated. Chemlights help to see somewhere and don't attract zombies. Flares on the ground will light up for a pretty wide spread around it. Carrying will gain you one level of visibility. The biggest concerns with these are other players, not zombies.
