About Steve.C

  • Rank
    Woodland Warrior
  1. Seriously, a great server. I play there as DennyCrane and have lived a long and productive life of giving taxi rides and helping everyone I can. Aronax is an awesome admin and NEVER has an ego. I donated to the server within a week, that's how much I enjoyed playing there. Solid group of dudes and very little drama.

Being a hero versus being a bandit

I've been creating new profiles with new names specifically to use one of the names for misdeeds of banditry on Lingor. I figured that I might as well try it as I've made friends with one of the admins and his buddies who are typically bandits. It's so easy to gear up on Lingor that I figured killing people wouldn't be all that hard. I can't do it. I can't fire on someone without them first initiating force. Try as I might, I just can't. Every time I have the shot lined up, I cannot pull the trigger; it's not fair and it's just not right to me.

Being a hero versus being a bandit

Remember, just calling out "friendly" will get you killed. Control the situation. Have a defensible position and allow them to make the choice to be friendly or die. Never take your eyes off them and make them realize that if they make any aggressive movements, you will not hesitate. If they choose to be hostile, make sure they die and you live. Use your primary to cover them if it's better-suited than your secondary; it usually is. You need to kill them fast if they're trying to kill you. Just tonight I was gearing up at a high-profile military loot spawn (AK74 is a better defensive weapon than Winchester and a 7-mag loadout lasts forever if you aren't a bandit) and took a look outside for zeds. I saw a guy proned rolling toward the entrance. I took a position covering both entrances and told him quickly that he was allowed to enter, that I was friendly, but that if he came in with his gun pointed at me, I would kill him. He came in, we chatted and he bailed. No problems because I had the upper hand. I've been practicing with all main weapons so I can be better trained in combat situations. Heros, or in my case survivors, are no good dead. There's a big difference between "friendly" and "sheep." Be a wolf in sheep's clothing.

5 survivors deleted in 5 days

Someone said you have to wait until BE fully initializes in the server start screen, then join once it's fully initialized. All I know, is that it's happened to me twice in three days. One day I log out, the next I log back in with nothing, spawning on the coast without even a backpack. Every time this has happened, I have had plenty of ammo, food, water bottles, bandages, map, etc. to live on my own for a while. Even had a vehicle once, and was headed toward a life of idyllic simplicity. Edit: I do switch back and forth between Chernarus and Lingor, and play a Lingor Units server too.
  5. M16A4 ACOG. Uses STANAG ammo, so plentiful. Accurate out to 800m with practice. My primary loadout is based on PvP action initiated against me. I want to be able to reach out and touch my enemy without worrying about ammunition issues. The problem is finding M16A4s. I also like using AKM/Kobra/AK-74 as the ammo is stupid plentiful and they're decently powerful. AKM is very stout and very accurate once you've practiced and can guessimate ranges. If I ever had an L85, I'd probably be biased. Talk about being able to control a situation... long range target spotting and scouting capabilities mean scoping a town before infil is easy as hell.

Can I wear a ghillie suit safely?

Definitely. Changed into ghillie and lost my ALICE pack, which reverted into a CPP. Next time I joined a server, I died. Then I respawned in the debug plains, with my ghillie. Then I respawned on the coast with my ghillie, but NOTHING else. No flashlight, no bandage, no pack. I found a CPP and regarded it as manna from heaven. Sometimes it's nice to have a perspective change where if you get hurt, you will die. If it gets dark, you cannot see. If you pick up more than you can hold, it stays where you found it. The game was intense for those few minutes where I had nothing.
  7. IRL, there is power in numbers. One set of eyes cannot cover all approach angles while cooking, one set of eyes cannot stand watch while sleeping, one set of ears cannot hear every twig snapping. You cannot remain alert up close while set up on a hillside preparing to shoot an animal 500m away, and you cannot see your enemies at afar when you're clearing houses up close. A solitary survivor cannot drag himself to safety after a catastrophic injury. Lone wolves live dangerous lives and often die without ever seeing their enemies. One thing the OP brings up that currently bothers me is the ability to change names. He's a coward and a traitor, and can change names and appearance whenever he wants. Even if we were to get his in-game name, which he won't give out because we'd hunt him down, he can change it on a whim. Even if we were to get his physical appearance, he can change it on a whim.
  8. If someone else is in my path, I typically avoid them. If they have basic gear or no gear, I'll establish comms but if they're geared up, I'm bailing. If we're in town and avoidance is impossible, try to get the upper hand before contact. No sense in dying for nothing; CYA. I've decided that command voice "Friendly, knock it off!" Will work sometimes when you're under fire by a close adversary. I give second chances if I have the upper hand. Otherwise, I do still use "friendly" and tell them exactly what I'm doing, i.e. "I'm behind you and have an M16A4 ACOG. Please don't point your weapon at me. Do you need anything?" My encounters with others have been overwhelmingly positive but I've been in two firefights and I've won both, one pistol-vs-pistol and one my revolver versus his FAL with NV at night. Stay friendly but stay alert. One thing I recommend: if you're going to give away a gun, drop the gun first and the ammo later. That way the recipient has to reload first and it'll give you some time to cover yourself.
  9. Weak. Is that because you're a backstabber? Mine's Steve.C. I'd love to put a round in you. Play a round with you, that is. Edit: No internet tough guy. If I get killed in game, I deserve it or you're a coward. One of the two.
  10. Hey Obsolescence and Regor, what're your in-game names? I'll gladly overlook my "never initiate force" rule for you two.

    Survivor Morals

I am Steve.C in-game. I will not shoot unless force is escalated. I've changed from "I will not shoot unless shot at" due to one guy to whom I gave a gun. I will shoot if you continue to point your weapon in my direction after being warned not to. I will never shoot prior to giving multiple verbal commands. Continued pointing in my direction indicates force escalation; if you look slightly away or holster your weapon I consider that a peaceful gesture and I will do the same; whether you have a hero skin, a ghillie suit or a shemagh, it makes no difference. Escalate force in any way and I will do my damnedest to drop you, be peaceful and I'll do my damnedest to help you. Please note that if you steal from my backpack, I will shoot you down without hesitation. Theft is a force escalation. If I see a tent, I will always leave it be. If I see a vehicle in a non-spawn location, I will always leave it. If you ever see me near your tent, your contents are safe and, if it's empty, you may find food and extra ammo in it. I will never take the fruits of your labor. As in real life, if I can help you without causing harm to myself, I will do it. If I've just eaten and have but one can of beans, and you are starving, you are welcome to it; I will find more before I starve. If you need medical help and I have extra morphine, a blood pack, a bandage or some steaks, I will help you in any way I can. If we're pinned down by snipers or others, I will provide cover fire so that we may get out of danger. If you're being chased by a pack of zombies, I will distract them so that you may evade or heal yourself. My ethics are inflexible and are not changed by apocalypse. I tend to play zombie games because I find war reprehensible.

Need Medical Assistance? We can help.

Medics, do not help C.Riggs. He will shoot you after you help him. He is a piss-poor shot, so you'll likely survive. I gave him an FAL with NV, and he managed not to kill me despite wasting three mags of ammo. I killed him with my revolver from 30 yards. Again, C.Riggs should be blacklisted and at no point is he to be trusted.
  13. Went there at around midnight server time. Found nothing. Left.

    Green Mountain

Went there last night around midnight. Two zombies were all that spawned in, but there wasn't any decent loot so I hoofed it out of there.
