DeadManWalking2 27 Posted August 23, 2012 I think zombies should contain more realistic loot. Assuming that zombies would have on them whatever there victims were carying on there person (excluding what they were holding) zombies would have more interesting items on them than they do now. in fact the best place to get some items would be off the corpse of a zombie.---Civilian zombiesfor starters a watch. most people wear a watch. therefore finding a watch on a zombie should be fairly common.Cigaret lighter (matches) allot of people are smokers, and most carry around cigarette lighters on there person. I'd say about 1 in 15 zombies should have a lighter on them.mobile phone - in the apocalypse this is a junk item. (the cell towers aren't working and there is no way to charge it)sweets(candy) - no one carry's a can of food. but they might carry chocolate bars.--- Hiker zombiesa new rare kind of zombie found out in the wilderness between cities. (suggestion) These zombies would be found with anything ranging from just a map to a full set of survival equiptment. (but always have a map)---Military zombieswould contain military equiptment in poutches or on there belts. Different ranks would contain different things. Things you would expect to find on a military zombie would be... (in order of likelyhood)watchknifebulletsradiobinocularsmapcompassgpsfire arms (pistols in belt, smg's slung over shoulder)grenadestentthis would make military zombies a sort after kill. therefore it would not be unreasonable for them to attempt to use any weapons they have on them. blindly firing there pistols or letting a grenade go off in there hands (when close to player). thus retaining the risk to reward factor.
Cvm 13 Posted August 23, 2012 Killing any kind of a zombie should not "always" reward you with anything. Sure, different zombies could have different loot, but what loot they have should still be random chance.
Bratalise 26 Posted August 23, 2012 I like this idea this would give people an incentive to kill zombies instead of now where zombies are just annoying and carry nothing good. I think this and some of the zombie changes proposed by other people like hordes and more of them wondering around would go quite nicely together. xeezy 27 Posted August 23, 2012 I agree, but it shouldnt' always spawn something.
Frozen (DayZ) 144 Posted August 23, 2012 that`s a good idea, though chances should be low, because zombies tend to loose stuff that they had in previous life. and thats why its very unlikely that military zombies would carry a smg on a sling.also there is a chance that civil zombies would carry a knife and pistol.but chances that zombies would carry useful tool should be rare, because scavenging is important aspect of the game, and altering it with zombie grindingusing a hatchet, is kinda lame game design. Sane Minds 5 Posted August 23, 2012 I agree with this increased loot, yet inversely cities should have many more infected appear than currently and general infected blood should go up to make the loot formidable and dangerous to obtain yet still exciting. navx2810 17 Posted August 23, 2012 Don't quote me; but on the AMA (Ask me Anything) on Reddit; I'm pretty sure someone suggested this and rocket was looking into it for standalone.
Wiley 49 Posted August 23, 2012 The military zombies already occasionally have military loot on them. Still, I like the idea of expanding that.
blackout14@live.com 51 Posted August 23, 2012 I like the idea of the hiker zombie. However, finding a crashed Huey and having a good 7 or 8 gun toting, explosively suicidal zombies that respawn rapidly would make finding that less rewarding and more dangerous than running into a large bandit camp without a weapon. This game already gives you way too many bullshzt deaths with legitimate deaths few and far between. Id hate to worry more about zombies than players while in an airfield. DemonGroover 8836 Posted August 23, 2012 I agree about the watch.More variety is the key. Different zombies, with a small chance of different loot.I still fail to see why a Russian Psychotic peasant would be carrying a can of baked beans, but hey, who am i to question? Yatagan 62 Posted August 23, 2012 I like the idea of a lighter, but maybe since it's so common now, it only has like randomly between 1-10 uses? So you find it but you don't know how long it's got, and you can't use it much before needing another. :DOverall I agree that improved zombies is a must, Rocket plans on doing something like this for Standalone for sure.
