alcatraz968 100 Posted August 23, 2012 (edited) The Arma 2 engine has rather terrible utilization of GPUs.For solid 60 frames, run on high.In theory, yes that can run the game on max.Edit: I posted this farther down.Certain settings in the Advances setting eat up usage, with little graphical gain. Here are my settings: I have 2 GTX 560s 2gb, and a i7-2600k. Because its summer where i am, my GPU usage is around 80% (Both).Textures:Very HighVideo Memory:Very High(Depending on your GPU memory, put the setting always at High, or very high. 2 GB is enough for Very High.)AnisoTropic Filter:Very HighAnti-aliasing: Very High(For Anti-aliasing. Do not do one of the numbers. At 8, its eat 25% of my GPUs usage up, with no visual differences).ATOC:(Explanation) (This setting is really dependent on your GPU strenght. It makes a huge graphical differences, but eats up alot of usage to. For lower end systems, A.K.A your 7850, put Grass. If your system is stronger, put All Trees+Grass. Do not use the Arrowhead options, and they suck.)Terrain Detail:HighObject Detail:Very HighShadow Detail:High(Shadow Detail eats up a lot of usage, put on Normal if your have FPS problems.)HDR Quality: Normal(Do not put higher, makes no graphical differences, but eats a lot of Usage)PPAA: SMAA Very High(PPAA lower SMAA setting if fps is a problem. This setting has little impact on usage)Post-Processing Effects: Normal(Post-Processing uses a lot of GPU Usage. Drop if your having FPS Problems.)Last three settings are user choice. If your having FPS problems, lower any of the following:Anti-aliasingATOCShadow DetailPPAAPost-Processing EffectsHope this helps. CrunchyBacon 29 Posted August 23, 2012 (edited) is there a better way to get the most fps out of the arma 2 engine. This is the only game i play and my only priority. when i was researching the GPUs i saw games like BF3 getting 100+ fps. I want the most i can get. 60 just seems average to me. Dancing.Russian.Man 1631 Posted August 23, 2012 I have the i5-3570k and GTX 670 with 8Gb of RAM, and I can run it on max with 60 FPS.
sonicrainbrony 136 Posted August 23, 2012 60 is AMAZING for Arma 2. Not average.
redsh1rt 24 Posted August 23, 2012 You won't get the framerate you will get in BF3, it just won't happen. Most high end systems can't even achieve 60fps in Arma2 (and I'm talking 60fps in cities, any moron can get 60fps in an open field looking at the floor). You should be happy with 60fps in DayZ tbh, the difference between 100 and 60 fps is small at best.inb4 people start claiming they can run Arma2 "silky smooth" with specs 2 or 3 generations old. Oh inb4 the "the eye can only see 30fps" crowd.
CrunchyBacon 29 Posted August 23, 2012 ok thank you soo much guys. i guess i was way off thinking 60 fps was crappy. I will be ordering tomorrow morning and hope to see you guys in the game.
