DayZ mod runs on karma engine 3

This mod appears to run on a version of karma engine 3.

Today I was in cherno running around the firehouse when I see a guy with a broken leg. We start communicating and he tells me he was sniped and had to crawl towards the firehouse. I offer to bring him morphine to fix his leg and I head off towards the hospital. On the way back I run through one of the small industrial shacks and too my great suprise i find an ammo box ful of every item in the game ( yes i know thats hacked). It occurs to me that the guy im helping only has an axe and i sorta felt bad for him. I grab some items for him and run back to his then unconscious body.I gave him an as50 tws, a ghillie suit, nvgs, rangefinder, and a map that i wrote "take your revenge my friend" I bloodbagged then epi pen'd him and ran back to the ammo box. I grabbed stuff for myself then ran away.

I hope that poor little guy got his revenge.

TL;DR- helped a guy. got karma. got every item in the game.

Nobody is going to get banned.

If he found the ammo box just laying around, he can take stuff from it without any problems.

Only the person who spawned that thing is possibly in trouble.

A lot of admins will still ban you from their server for hacked weapons. Try not being stupid next time.

Fun fact; There is NO WAY of telling if a weapon is spawned in by a script or not, as long as it's a legit DayZ weapon.

Sure, you can see the moment when a script was executed in the logs, but you can't track all 50 units of every weapon in the ammo boxes to see who has picked theirs up from the ground and who got it from a hacked box.

lol. i had an mg-36 for a few days. i found it on a dead body. it was terrible so i switched it out for an AKM.

admins who ban for hacked weapons with knowing who is responsible for spawning it are both stupid, and an asshole on purpose.

The player who is at the origin of the script is the ONLY person who can be banned, get your facts straight and don't spread rumors.

The guy above is right. Most admins will server-ban you for using a hacked weapon. We're kinda lenient for the most part on US866 depending on what the item is. You have a hacked AS50 TWS or any thermal other than the L85 and we'll ban you for at least 24 hours and tell you to get rid of it. Sadly, a lot of people don't know the loot tables so we can't really just ban everyone.

The DayZ team has considered adopting a policy of adding a weapons list into the mission file itself and then replacing any "unofficial" item with either 1. nothing or 2. a low-end weapon. I haven't seen anything new about that lately, unfortunately.

Imo the legit person using as tws ain't that much better than the script kiddie spawning it. You get a huge benefit against legit players, with items they cannot aquire.
