i have formatted my laptop, do i loose my DayZ character in the game?

if not, how do i resume with my still living character and my stuff.

No, that information is stored on the hive, you resume by joining a server.

do i need to create a new profile with the same name?

i dont remamber really the exact name and i couldnt store my old profile information which was in my computer/documents arma2 etc... my pc suddenly messed up. all my profile is gone because of the format.

i dont understand. does the game remambers me by my steam account? it made me start with nothing in the same server. how do i continue with my old profile? i had 3 profiles in the past that i used before format. it was the last one that i created. i appriciate if someone helps me.
