Tents disappearing?

Just logged in to my server, all my tents are now gone. Just just the stuff in them, but the actual tents. Any specific reason why this happened? Any chance of them coming back? I've had them for a couple days now, so it shouldn't be just the server resetting. Not raging, I was prepared for bugs, just want to know if I did anything wrong.

i noticed on some server restarts the tents and vehicles disappear. the should reappear after another restart.

From what i know of:

* Tents have a chance of eating your items, they also have a chance of getting them back from a server restart. <- pray for this one if you want to see your stuff again.

* Tents and Vehicles have a rough time this patch, with saving itself probaly. Some servers work 100%, some doesn't work at all. (hopefully fix in 1.7.3)

Herr Jon, you will not have to be there when it restrats, just hope they come back. I know I lost two tents full of rare non duped gear with the latest patch and have not seen them since. I then have lost a car and a bike to the same problem, some servers are better than others but tents are hopelessly broken.

Well I found another tent at the market, so at least I can rebuild if need be. I think if they aren't there on the reset, I'll just not play until the update, hopefully I can "safely" store my stuff then.

Thankfully this time I didn't lose much of value, just a stockpile of meat, water bottles, and meds. The only guns I lost was an Enfield and an AKS-74 Kobra, I knew there might be glitches so equipped my big guns, M107 and M16A2, knowing my person was safer that tents, at least when logged out. Just sucks that I lost all those meds I ran 10k to get, now I'm back down to 1 of each.

u can check dayzmonitor.com for server restarts. maybe u can see any timerule the restarts occur.

On the main server I play on, some restarts the tents/vehicles are all gone as mentioned. Then, the admin will sometimes force another restart, and when they do, the stuff comes back. So far it's happened about 3 times and every next restart, all the stuff has come back as it should.

It is sketchy to say the least and if you have a piece of gear you really want to keep you are better off just running around with the gear. I am a hopeless hoarder in this game and this most recent patch has broken any drive to gather gear (or worse vehicles) because they will most likely disappear.

Same here... my team has lost MANY good items (M249 SAW with ACOG, a bunch of car parts we were gathering to fix a car, Cyote backpack, L85....) due to tents not saving stuff.

I have also got to the point where I have stopped playing due to the saving bugs.... just not worth it.

My friend found a post that described a method that works for us. When you place a tent in the 1.7.2.5 world, it will save ONLY what you have in it for the FIRST time you save it. To break it down:

1) Place the tent

2) Put all the gear in

3) Save the tent

The tent will forever have that gear in it when the server restarts. Doesn't matter what you add or what you take away, the tent will come back with that gear. Me and my friend lost a lot of really good gear before we figured out that bug, but luckily, in the 1.7.2.5 world it is impossible not to dupe your gear, so you can get it all back. Vehicle storage appears to work the same way, as our pickup truck has turned into an infinite fountain of M4A1 SD's....

This happened to me yesterday I had like 12 tents setup with friends and after an hour or so I log back in all our tents where gone and I have yet to find a server where I have a vehicle that stays on a server reset or a sudden server lose of connect. Then that same day I started remaking my camp again on another server same thing happened but I was there this time server went unresponsive and 2 minutes later I was able to log back in and my tents where still their but the content where gone and my PBX turned into a ATV.

P.S. Yes I save my tents regularly after adding items and with vehicles.

The glitches in their inventory system are atrocious. For a game that wants to promote reality items dissappear into thin air on a regular basis. When you try to move inventory, for some reason your ammo miraculously moves itself, and if there isn't enough room for the ammo and the weapon you are trying to move your weapon will disappear,, that is very realistic. They need to ditch a whole bunch of this glitchy mechanics,,,, problem is I see that the Arma3 engine apparently isn't any different. Still the same horrible inventory interface..... Makes me wonder about their intelligence.

It happens on my main server regularly. Server restarts, tent goes poof, server restarts again, tent comes back. Everything inside is fine, mind you, so I just consider it a bit of an insurance policy for anyone who stumbles over my camp.

So the tents are back, but it seems the last round of stuff I put in them didn't save, my Kobra moved back to my first tent and my meds are gone. I think what Zecknaal said is happening, it's only using the first save. In that case, is it possible to pack a tent then replace it on the ground in order to save it for the "first" time? Just figuring out how I can deal with this.

Not sure if that would work, but if you try to do it, make sure you unload the tent. Packing it with stuff inside causes it to eat the contents, if I remember correctly.

Well, re-pitched one of the tents and put a piece of meat in it, I'll see if it's still there after the next reset.

So the meat didn't make it. That means it's only the very first save of the tents life. Guess no more scavenging for me until the next update.

well ever since I made my camp and yes it came back but everytime I add stuff and remove stuff from my tents and save them it resets back to when I first placed them and all changes and items disappear forever and dont come back.

I spent the past few days setting up a base with a few tents, a UAZ. We used the car to help us get some nice gear from Stary and the NWAF to the camp, found to helicopter crash sites over the past few days. Got on this morning and everything has disappeared, words can not describe what I am feeling.
