So, you are focused in your adventure when you suddenly hear the helicopter approaching you. What do you do?

I usually smile because that is the sound of my group coming to pick my fat lazy ass up because I refuse to run anywhere.

I look around for players playing helicopter sounds over direct chat.

hide under a tree (if it's a server with tags on, pray they don't scroll over me), follow their general direction, steal it.

It won't see me. Unless helicopters have the thermal imaging cameras like in the doccumentries, then I'll be safely away in the woods.

Which reminds me, are there coloured smoke grenades in this mod? Haven't seen any.

Edit- Question answered

Me and the group will usually take to cover and allow them to pass, though if they come back around trying to get an easy kill then they usually find themselves smoking away towards the ground and finally resting as a smokey blaze in a field somewhere!

Only time I ever saw a helicopter was when it was spotting for us during a bandit hunt in Stary. They came in too low and crashed in the middle of the road. Such is life.

There is your answer :). Happened just yesterday. Sorry about the quality, it is youtube's fault, I uploaded it in good quality.

I encountered this situation just yesterday. The night before I had been tent hunting on a fresh spawn along Kamenka's western border while traveling north, I had lost my bearings, mapless when I logged in the next day. Running around, low on food, I heard a chopper. Decided against odds, as I had no ammo nor secondary to run towards the sound. Found the chopper sitting sitting at a gas station which ended up being Polana. Thankfully I went to the grocery store, found an enfield, plenty of food, and decided to return to the chopper. I found a guy with a bandit skin filling the chopper with gas.

I took the high-road, got the drop on him, but didn't shoot. Stated I had him in my sights, asked if he was friend or foe. He was kind enough to pick me up in the chopper and drop me off at the NWAF, since I hadn't decided to kill him when I had the advantage.

Didn't find much at NWAF, except a Remmy 870, which I used to defend myself against a NVG M4CCOSD bandit later that night when I was promptly teleported back to the beach upon login.

Thank you chopper pilot for leading me to safety. wish I could remember his name.
