Derpy_Hooves (DayZ) 4521 Posted August 21, 2012 (edited) Also, the coriolis effect (bullets travelling over distance effected by wind direction) takes effect from 250m+ Use trees and grass (or even smoke plooms) to judge wind direction and strength to determine your shot path....EDIT: on moving targets ie left to right @ 200m aim 1inch in front of your target at waist height for a hit...@300m aim 1.5 inches@400m aim 2 inches.... further than that and the bullet travel loses it's realism and changes from shot to shot but i havee found for shots 800-1000m using an AS50 i aim 4 inches in front of my target at waist hight for a hit.Hope these tips prove useful (all learned while i served and actually do work in DayZ thanks to the ARMA engine) Edited August 21, 2012 by Derpy_Hooves

I have never seen trees or grass move in the wind. Maybe im not paying enough attention
Derpy_Hooves (DayZ) 4521 Posted August 21, 2012 (edited) What? I have never seen trees or grass move in the wind. Maybe im not paying enough attentionI've spent too much time adjusting to my surroundings, it's something i picked up in the military, but next time you play just keep a look out for trees n grass movements... also if you use a headset you can hear the wind either pass from left to right or right to left allowing you to change your shot direction... (i spend far too much time playing this) Edited August 21, 2012 by Derpy_Hooves
martin_sonderegger@bluewin.ch 141 Posted August 21, 2012 Isn't the wind supposed to be deactivated in ARMA2 multiplayer? I still see some vegetation moving, but I always thought it was just for optical effects.
ChiefMasterKush 321 Posted August 21, 2012 I guess I am not paying enough attention, I have heard the wind but that's too helpful to tell which way its moving 250+ meters away. Thanks

bazbake 456 Posted August 21, 2012 (edited) Coriolis effect is the effect of the rotation of the earth on bullet movement. Windage is what you're thinking about. I know for a fact that the former has no effect on Arma II's engine and I hear that the latter was disabled, too, since that would mean snipers might actually miss. Zombie Jesus 723 Posted August 21, 2012 (edited) *snip*Does not sound like a simple problem. If English is not your first language I apologize for everything I am about to say. This post makes potheads look incredibly stupid. I have a great job and have been relaxing with cannabis my entire adult life, but I hate people like you with a passion. Not everything is about pot (like for example a Dayz forum with a useful tip) and unless you are a non native English speaker it looks like it stunted your education (the more I read the post the more obvious it is that you are not a native English speaker so once again my bad and apologies for the criticism). sonicrainbrony 136 Posted August 23, 2012 Yep, the clouds move to the east, rendering the compass useless for navigating. Of course you can still use a compass to call out directions to your teammates (very effective)
