This game is pretty much dead for me.

Recommended Posts

I was being a tool man.

Its a motto from some people here to ruins someone else experience of the game by throwing the obligatory hackers ruin the game comment. (A lot of the vet posters here would get the joke). The mentality of a lot of people doesn't understand that the game is a developmental sandbox where ideas are constantly being tried and tested and gamers who are playing think this is reminscient of a final product where it is not.

Which also brings in the use of people putting up private hives. The goal for the developers is to collect data to seee what works and what doesn/t No data, no development. These servers to me seem to hamper the progression of the mod only to serve a purpose to enjoy the game in its current state and have no interest in helping the developers secure that data.

Day in and day out these boards are being hamered by such tomfoolery its getting to be more comical than helpful and I got caught in it.

Just my opinion and Im sure Ill get flamed for it.

ANd yes, Opeth does rule! \m/

And here's my obligatory comment on why hackers are ruining the game, just for you!

Firstly, you're right with almost everything you've said, I've been against and am still against the idea of private hives for either the alpha (info gathering suffers) or the standalone.

DayZ should always be a persistent hive game, not any random joe running his own little kingdom.

Now, I think most people understand this game is under development.

However, people want to play the game regardless if it's an alpha or a finished product.

1 million players aren't 'testing' dayz out of the goodness of their hearts, they're playing it to enjoy it just like any other game, despite the bugs.

At this point getting any enjoyment out of DayZ is virtually impossible for the honest players who just want to have fun with their friends, hacking is far too rampant.

If you're unlucky enough to engage another player, then there's a good chance it's a hacker with god mode on, then you lose all your stuff.

I know, "alpha alpha alpha, stop complaining", but people just want to play without harassment.

And anyway, any stats they're trying to gather at this point about player behaviour have got to be so heavily screwed up by all the scripting that the alpha testing is almost pointless.

So hacking isn't just ruining peoples play experience, it's ruining the alpha test too.

I have not found a server that I haven't been nuked/teleported/turned into a goat on in the last week if I've played for more than half an hour.

Keep chastising people all you like, but that my friend, is the sad situation we're in.

+10 internets for using the word tomfoolery though.

Non hive #1 hosted by rinuan always has at least 15-25 people. All I do is pvp. Surviving is easy lol

Hackers are not part of the game. It's a shame you guys don't care about it. I know it's an alpha, so what? I didn't say that the game is bugged somehow - the opposite, the mod is pretty AWESOME as it is now, but the hackers are just ruining it all. You can't survive, when a hacker teleports EVERYONE on the server to the same place and blow the Hell out of it all, there's no point to start it all over again. Ain't I right?

And by the way, Minamo, do you even play the game? or just spamming the forums (well, you got 200 posts there)? It seems that you are not aware of these hackers with their scripts. It's not about Helicopters getting crashed, I said EVERY single tree on my way, was on fire. It's too obvious it was a script. Get over it, spammer.

Cyanide_I, I don't want to go to low-populated servers. The mod isn't just about surviving, I know it's a Zombie-kind of a mod but the PvP in it is a big plus.

+10 whole internets for tomfoolery? Sweet, I win!

Funny thing is I agree with you too man. Im not here to make enemies.

I just have a different view than you and most people have "testing" a product". I view the hackers and bugs are part of the alpha testing. Its to acknowledge the holes and exploits that are in the game so they may be patched out. We are not supposed to be enjoying the game, we are testing a POC, and experiment have you.

There is a certain obligation we have to take with this mod don't you think? It was released to the internets when almost all games do not rely on the internet to test. In all fairness we would typically never see a mod this shallow in its development. So to demand things and constantly bash the developers about things they already know is not helping. Neither is to keep reminding people that are new to the forums why this mod sucks right now. Its couter productive. If anything the mod cotinues to develop better things the more people that choose to come to these forums and contribute. Not start another thread wyh this community sucks.

Just my opinion.

+20 for your obigatory comment Machine. You didn't dissapoint. ;)

Oh, so with the reasoning that some of you have on this forum, It's okay to script the game? Okay everyone, go ahead and script the game. We're testing the game so if we all script together then this'll get the devs attention!

Might as well post all the sites where you can get free scripts too so the game will get "better" when they fix it.

Someone should start a topic with all those sites and just tell everyone how to. We need to alpha test this as much as we can.

In the beginning I was against private servers but now, I feel as if it's justified as long as there are enough slots on it. And all these complaints about admin abuse? It's going to happen. There's far too many servers now and it's close to impossible to moderate that sort of stuff.

was on the #2 server today. hit some guy with a hatchet. then my friend found a heli and we flew it to elektro and picked up a random guy. he happened to eject, but the point is we saw a few people. and there were quite a few.

just filter for rinaun and join the #2 server and see for yourself.

People hack. Just goes to show you how many pricks there are in this world. Whats the point of hacking in this game but to just grief other people. It just leads to the conclusion that they are NOT fulfilled with their real life in anyway and its there only means to have any kind of control. With the amount of hackers I would say 1/3 of these people on the forums use hacking scripts. its fustrating playing legit and hackers taking me out all the time. But stay legit its the best thing to do.
