How can I fight back ?

First of all, hello everyone, english isn't my native language, so I may will make mistake and appologize for that :)

I'm a new player on DayZ, even on Arma2 to be honest. When I heard about DayZ a couple weeks ago, I fell in love with it, watching gameplay videos, reading forums, etc...

I decided I had to buy the game so badly ! And I did. I started by doing my classes, learning how to move in the game, how to drive, how to pilot aircrafts and boats, how to shoot, how to command, etc...

Then I did a few mission to apply what I learned into practice. My brother and some friends found the game very cool and bought it too, to join me in this adventure :D

Long story short (yeah I know, not that short) we are a team of 4 people, but can't play together because of IRL imperatives (job, girlfriends who don't like videogames, etc... I'm the only one with a gamer GF and no job at the moment, so I play almost everytime).

At the beggining, 2 weeks ago, I could find some friendly player to team up with, with some bandits too, chasing us, and we were fighting back, in most case, we won. I was mostly designed as the medic, draging unconcious budies to cover, bandaging them, giving blood transfusion and such. But I know how to use my weapon, and I could be deadly too. I soon got the so called Hero Skin, when it was released last week-end.

Now I don't know why, on every single server I go, everyone is shooting on sight, they don't even think, they just shoot at me, even if they only have a makarov to protect, and I am a fresh spawning guy who just seek around for food, with no weapon, not even an axe. Despite my skin says "hey there, i'm friendly and I won't shoot at you first so don't worry".

I agree with the part that there SHALL have PK in this game, it makes it way more exciting, but I don't understand why everyone is killing on sight, even when they have no stuff to protect, and I have obviously nothing interesting for them :/

I'm not whinning or what, I'm just wondering what goes so wrong everyone is shooting without thinking ? I mean, we're not on CoD or BF..

By the way, I find this too bad that I actually can't fight back if I don't want to lose my Hero outfit. I find it very cool, and way more cooler than the normal outfit, or the ridiculous bandit towelet. Is there a way I can fight back without loosing my skin ? I mean, if I don't get shot first, which in most case means I lost the fight, I cannot shoot at people without loosing humanity :/

I am killed in the back in a lot of case, just because I decided to ignore that guy with an axe running for his life with zombies on him :/

But in most case, I'm unarmed a the guy just shoot with what he has.

I think it's the hero outfit, it get people mad, just like red with a bull.

I didn't said it sucks, I asked if there is a way I can fight back without loosing my outfit.

About artifacts, I know it will be fixed as soon as possible, I know it's an Alpha and Rocket has a lot of work to do. (I just wonder why he don't just get rid of these useless corpses that cause artifacts)

About hackers, it's all up to BE, but I don't really mind, since they kill the game for themselves more than for me ;)

well, if you REALLY want that hero skin, only thing you can do is wound them (peferably break legs) and run away, hoping they won't bleed out. Half of them will alt+f4 brainlessly, only to find themselves passed out when they re-connect, what raises their chances of bleeding out. But in that case (re-logging and dieing) you won't get the murder.

Ultimate trolling would be making them pass out, bandage them, drag to an open space and attract zombie attention, swearing and scaring them via voice chat.

No, as far as I know.

You can extract tons of lulz with those "knock out - bandage up" tactics. We kidnapped a guy once by using that. You can put knocked out players in vehicles. So we took one axe maniac, which we found with 2 newbie corpses in some garage, drove him to the woods, read him his rights and executed him for class 1 murder. We had to break car's window, coz he refused to exit the car. At least he didn't alt+f4 like most ppl we tried to kidnap do.

only lose humanity for killing non bandits, if they have bandit skin you can kill them and teabag the corpse* while still keeping your hero skin

*Corpse teabagging only available to halo console addicts

best thing u can do is trust no one, and avoid others at all costs. yes this will force u to play solo unless u have friends on, but atm its not worth the risk to try and find someone thats friendly, even if they have the hero skin.

Guys, I read on the official wiki that fighting back isn't considered as banditry/murder, but what is fighting back ? Shooting after getting shot ? or shooting after hearing some bullets near us is good enough ?

As Ivell said, you can kill bandits no problem, you will however loose humanity if you kill survivors / non bandits.

So get slaughtering everyone with a white cloth around their head !

Here's what you can do OP, shoot back at those fools! Twist their sorry wigs with return fire and stop being so Mmo with your attachment to shiney and trinket hero skin. Seriously, that is what you can and should do or you will not be long for DayZ

Ok I found a bunch of GGG who helped me getting out of these crapy south coasts town. Now I got some good equipement (Suppressed M4 and G17, with some handgrenades, I found a box full of silenced stanag ammo in a helicopter crash site), and will dedicate this life to help newbies getting rid of these pussy snipers who camp like COD players !

The hill overlooking Elektro is great for taking out sniper noobs. When I die I actually use this location to re-equip my character because it's so often visited by players with military gear who fancy shooting at some fresh spawns. You get bonus points for abusing them over voice comms before killing them.

Find like minded folks and stick with them. You will be killed a lot in the process, but in the end, running in a pack is the only way to survive unless you want to run solo in the wilderness.

I fight back by not fighting at all. Kids are always going to lack creativity and just PvP. Nothing you can do.

Yeah I'm a bit tired of retardness, so I fight retardness with more retardness... That's what I do. PK is important, but this is too much, newbies can't do anything because of them, and it kills the game for a lot of people.

Thanks for the tip, if anyone want to help me cleaning these areas of every single noobkiller, you guys are welcome. (And I won't lose my hero outfit by killing towelheads, so... I did not really changed, I still fight, but now I'm geared so I can actually fight back, I just wanted to keep the cool outfit :D)

@Sostronk, that's not so strong (lolilol) not fighting back is what they want. I think you did not really understood them. They don't want a real gunfight, otherwise they would go Stary or some north town with other geared players, and they wouldn't take sniper, because noone can really fight back a sniper (well, another sniper of course) and they would take some mid/close combat ranged weap.

They just have fun killing defenseless people, easily, don't ask me why, I do not really find that appealing, but that's the way they play, and they're far from beeing tired of that. I think they love making people raging.

Fighting back is actually the only way to annoy them.
