DayZ Fanfic

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, this is my first post on these forums so be gentle. ^_^ I've been playing a hell of a lot of Day Z with a few of my clan mates from Omega XIII lately, and we've really been enjoying it. So much infact, that I decided that I would write a mini fanfic series, consisting some of our adventures. So here is part one, introducing my character.

------------------------------------------

I awoke to find myself lying face down in the sand. The gentle waves lapped at my legs, and a calm sea breeze blew over me. The sun was at its peak in the sky and the air shimmered in the heat. My clothes were wet, but I wasn't sure whether it was from the ocean or my sweat. The last thing I remembered was sitting on my flight from London to Moscow, a business trip I took twice a year. Just off the coast of somewhere two of our engines blew out, and as we plummeted towards the ocean I had a panic attack and blacked out. I wondered how long I'd been lying there in the sand, the sun beating down on my unconscious body.

'Where am I?' I thought to myself.

Gathering what strength I had I pushed myself up onto my feet, spitting the wet sand from my mouth and brushing myself down. Oddly enough, when I stood up I felt just fine, apart from few slight aches. I felt a little light-headed from dehydration, but that was to be expected in the midday sun.

I looked around for any sign of the plane crash, or any other survivors, conscious or otherwise. There were no signs of any kind, except for a small satchel lying in the sand a little further up the beach. It wasn't mine but I figured under the circumstances it would be okay to take a look inside it. Painkillers and a bandage, but that was it. I figured it must have been some kind of first aid kit. I thought that it may come in handy, so I decided to take it with me, swinging the strap over my shoulder.

I walked away from the coast and found a road. I looked to my right and saw nothing but more road. Turning my head to the left I saw a small town. There was a signpost nearby. Каменка. Luckily all those business trips had paid off and I had learned to read the Cyrillic alphabet.

"Hmm, Kamenka. So, I am definitely in Russia. The state of Chernarus I believe." I said to myself. Now I just needed to find a map to get my bearings. Walking closer to the town I noticed that there was rubbish and debris strewn all over the roads. People were slowly wandering about the town paying no attention to the mess and I wondered to myself, perhaps this was what life was like in the poorer parts of the country. In my ignorance, I had no idea it was this bad out here.

Further into the town I spotted a group of people huddled over something. I couldn't quite tell from this distance what they were doing, but I had seen it before in Moscow. People huddled around a board that had been chalked up on the floor and they gambled with dice. I decided to approach them and see if any of them could help me, but as I got closer I realised that something was very wrong. They were huddled over another person, and they were EATING him!

I couldn't believe what my eyes were seeing, I felt sick to my stomach. I began to slowly back away from the group. Whatever the reason was that they were eating that poor guy, I was sure they wouldn't hesitate to chow down on me either. As I turned around I saw someone wandering behind me. I called for them to get help, but realised the grave mistake I had made. He screamed into the air and began sprinting towards me. I froze with fear, not knowing what to do. As he got closer I noticed that his pale hands and face were covered with stains of a mixture of fresh and dried blood. I finally regained control of my legs and ran as fast as I could back out of the town along the road, unfortunately not without attracting the attention of two more of those freaks.

I had been running flat out for what seemed like five minutes, I hadn't eaten or had a drink in god knows how long and my stamina was draining fast. I decided my best bet was to try and lose them in the trees to my left, and it worked, after about thirty seconds of ploughing through the undergrowth I had lost sight of them. I stopped to regain my breath, but one of them caught sight of me and began his relentless chase again.

I didn't want to get lost in the woods so I decided to go back out onto the main road. Perhaps I could get help from a passing car. Not long after I got back on the main road the next town came into sight. I quickly glanced at the sign as I ran past. Коморово. I looked behind, damn, it was still chasing me. I desperately banged on the door of the first house on the right side of the road, screaming for help.

"Let me in, please help me!" Nothing. I looked again, he was quicker than I had hoped. Almost right behind me now, I began running again and saw the house on the left side of the road. I ran up and tried bashing the door. Nothing. There was no time to wait, I had to go or I was going to be this man's lunch. I didn't know what was wrong with him, but I didn't want to stop to find out. Behind the house I noticed a small open shed. I darted off the road and into the shed, trying to hide. Out of the corner of my eye I saw a glint of steel, a hatchet. I grabbed it and held it close, cowering in the corner. Just outside I could hear shuffling, he knew I was close and was searching for me. A few seconds later he walked in front of the doorway and turned to face me. Before I even had a chance to think about it, I brought the hatchet up and buried it into his chest. He went down but he didn't stop lunging for me, so I swung at him again, and again until he moved no more.

Breathing heavily, I realised what I had just done. I dropped the hatchet and fell to my knees. I had just killed a man. But... I had no choice. It was either him or me...

Not enough sex, not impressed. Was expecting 50 Shades of DayZ, feel thoroughly disappointed and flaccid.

More banging.

Yes, yes, but what are you TRYING to say?

Is the Zombie Apocalypse a metaphor for our current economic crisis, or is it implying that men can no longer get it up and are in fact 'dead' in bed.

Journal Entry #1

05/24/2020

They told me they would cut my prison sentence in half, get out on a 5 year bid instead. They told me all I had to do was to live in this place called "Chernarus" for a year, part of a reality show or something. They were vague about what the show was about, only that there were others along the coast, where they dropped me off. I told them before they left that I didn't see any cameras, and in return they simply told me to not worry about it and that I am always "monitored". They told me I was near the city Cherno-something, I can't recall the full name. I'll just stick with calling it Cherno. Guess I'll try to get a hotel room there and try to make sense of this thing then on, even though they left me only a bandage, a flashlight, and a box of painkillers along with a small backpack (for some reason).

Journal Entry #2

05/24/2020 (Night)

There is definitely something not right with this place. Wrecked cars and trash all over the place are the first things I noticed, but then, I noticed the people in this place. They walked all over the place with no destination in mind, some were crawling and others were moving in manner indescribable in words. I walked over to one who seemed to be walking my way, but as we neared each other, I began to make out the horrors on this man's face. He was inhumanly pale and blood splattered his body, trailing from his skeletal hands to his disfigured face. His gaze remained unfocused until I was close enough to smell the corpse-like stench radiating from his body. He unleashed a hellish scream before darting towards me, and I reacted to my natural inclination to take refuge. I spotted a apartment-like building adjoining a cafe and made my way upstairs as fast as I could. I hid in the bedroom at the end of the second-floor bedroom as I took stock of my situation. The building I'm has undoubtedly been neglected and deserted for awhile. Empty tin-cans littered the hallways, and I think I saw some other things in the rooms I passed. I could hear footsteps and the awful groans downstairs that eventually disappeared out the back door. I stayed in place for what seemed like an eternity before moving. I moved my way through the complex, finding some soft drinks and canned food. After gathering the courage to look downstairs, I found, to my surprise, a pistol. Nothing like what I had back home, but I took it nonetheless. Having made my way back upstairs, I was glancing through the windows of the building when I heard the distinctive sound of flies.
