realistic movement (Harder survival)

To get back the thrill of survival one possible solution would be to fix the movement of ur character.

No one can sprint for kilometres without losing speed.

A possibility for this would be to add somekind of endurance
  • slower movement when sprinting for some time
  • heavy aiming losings on long sprints (not just some shaking)
  • less damage with meele weapons when you sprinted for a long time.

In my opinion the survivors shouldnt be all ex military or policemen who dont fear the Infected.

They are just normal people and if they get into risky situation like 4-10 Infected chase after you they should panic. And a consequence of that panic is that you may trip over some small objects like a rock/branch or something else.

This would be another posibillity to solve endless chases and easy infected outrunning.

But there are some real problems with this idea.

First there have to be much quicker and smoother stand up animations. Standing still and staying up isnt rly a thing what a survivor would do if he gets chased by zeds. Some rushing standing up or some fast crawl/standup thing would solve this.

Second you have to balance the ratio of this event. Its not fun if u drop to the ground every 5 secs when infected chase you and if u set the ratio to high you could simply ignore implementing it ^^.

If you like these ideas vote it up otherwise i accept critism.

I've played ArmA with the ACE and ACRE mods (which is more or less what you're describing) and given the nature of DayZ, I would get very annoyed very quickly having to walk everywhere because if you run, you get fatigued. The map is small, but it's too large to have to walk everywhere. Walking in cities and towns I can handle, but having to walk 20km cross the map through the woods--I don't have that sort of time, thanks.

You must not get off the coast much because if you did you would know that going 11km away, even at the speed we run, is painstakingly slow.

I build several bases on north of the map (NW airfield Berezino, etc...60% of my ingame time im off coast, adn walking wiht a 4 man group across the map can be funny too ^^)

My suggestion was mainly based on surviving vs the infected. Atm its really to easy to survive very long if u play a bit careful and scout the area around you.

Only threat in Dayz are players ...... and not the enviroment and the Zeds .

Something you could add to the suggestion is that this will affect your character if you are in combat or something like that.

Split movement in Travel/Combat movement.
