HOW TO: Coast Spawn...

Ok guys I have been a victim for a while now and with help from Kryvian and some experimentation I now know exactly what causes and how to avoid OR plan a coast spawn.

Here it is.

Perhaps you are up at Pobeda Dam and squad mates need you in Lektro or perhaps you are in Balota and a buddy tells u there is a Heli spawn in Berezino, well there is an easy way to travel. Coast Spawning. Contrary to popular belief it IS NOT a feature of the game designed to keep people from alt+f4ing or to discourage server hopping. It is simply a bad version.

If you are running 1.......2.5 and you try to log onto a 1........2.4 or any other lower version of Dayz, you will be "load locked" meaning that the screen freezes at "Loading..." and you have to force close the game and start again. Well while the game is "Loading..." your character is actually in the debug plains and would be put in his/her last known location when the loading process finished, however if you force close in the debug plains the game thinks you logged out there and then when you log in it has no choice but to randomly spawn you on the coast. Understand?

SO HOW TO COAST SPAWN:

1. Log out

2. Attempt to log into a server with an older version of Dayz than you have

3. Once you are "load locked", force close the game (ctr+alt+del then end the arma process)

4. Log back in on a server with the same version as you are running

5. Welcome to the coast.

*note* WHERE on the coast you spawn is random so... have fun.

HOW TO AVOID COAST SPAWNING:

1. Never log into a server with an older version of the game than you have.

2. ???

3. Profit.

I hope this clears up the mystery of coast spawning and I hope my fellow medics utilize this tool to help us reach patients faster.

i kept getting fucked over by the coast spawn, don't you still get teleported if you log onto a server version that's more current than yours? cause I believe i got teleported recently by logging onto a 1.7.2.5 server

as much as this sounds good, how do you explain my buddy who played on a server, went to dinner, came back, and was coast spawned when all he did was reconnect to the same server?

I haven't found any reliable info on why that happened...

I should say he on several occassions would get coast spawned when trying to reconnect to the same server day after day as we had to find new homes with the latest patch several days ago...

Um you spawn at coast regardless of which version you use/server uses also. If you disconnect while stuck in logging screen multiple times or too fast you spawn at coast. So its not just dont try to connect to different versions but dont try to connect to a server that will make you stuck in loading screen, which is impossible to know until you try and then its too late.

It will only happen if the game is closed during "LOADING..." after that process you are in your last known location and before that process your location is not yet loaded.

It must be during LOADING

As far as the same server guy... I don't know it could be a hacker, a bad server or perhaps the server updated while he was playing.

All I know is what I learned from the 4 hours of experimentation and since then it has never happened when I didnt want it to and always happens when I do.

I wouldn't know since I always update my version. To be safe, ALWAYS log onto servers with the same version as you.

WOW! Thanks for that man! I just really like the organic community that has formed on Dayz. It is nice to see that there are no rules and yet people work to build a a society of sorts. Just a really interesting place.
