Standalone Ideals. Put them here.

Recommended Posts

So dayz is getting a standalone. Its most likely going to be awesome. But my question is currently dayz is filled with bugs and hackers making it somewhat unplayable. *You're character will die less from being killed from zombies and more from bugs/hackers* So my question is what do YOU think the dayz standalone should have in it. I think it should have.

1. All the current bugs be fixed. Some of the bugs are game breaking and SHOULD NOT be carried over.

2. It should keep the arma style and controls.

3. The zombies should be made more zombie like. Currently they run to fast, walk though walls, and their attack animation is spazzy. Zombies are allowed to run but not AS FAST or FASTER then humans. 80-90% would be a good speed for them. Also their AI needs fixing. Their to smart, can see though walls and detect you out of nowhere.

4. More guns. The most commonly found gun for low levels is the lee enfeild. Problem is that it sucks. It will argo all the zombies and while it does two shot missing with it is a death sentence since it has a slow fire rate. Some better low level guns would be nice. Like a Uzi. High fire rate but horrible accuracy. The double barreled shotgun is a bit to rare and not ammo efficient.

5. Better maps. The map is good but the problem is the map is in English and the sighs are in Russian. IF the map was in Russian then we could simply match the words. If they were in English then that would be even better. But that will only satisfy some people. Russians might not know English and most people who know English don't know Russian. Its a hard language to learn. So please add the ability to change the language for the map and for the sighs.

Now I know on the internet people like to yell at each other but you can disagree without screaming. If you do not like a ideal say so in civil manner and better yet offer a way to improve it.

*insert you're ideal bellow or comment about someone else s*

Id prob like to see a lot more individuality. Possibly things like clothing/combat stores to loot with guaranteed clobber. Allows you to customise your guy/gal a little more. The ability to make clan/gang clothing unique to your group (but not sometihng that will unbalance the gameplay too much)

More immersion based play - consequences for player killing and a bigger crutch based on player to player cooperation. Too much instant kill on this game.

The ability to build small camps with buildings or to commandeer certain SMALL holdings (ie. not taking over electra but say taking control of a small farm holding as a gang hideout (if the map becomes bigger). Must have a certain amount of members of the same group clan on at one time to do so. Would be cool to fortify a position to work from over simple sandbags and wire. Some form of computer based defence/hired goons if your rep is high enough to protect camp? Max numbers included to maintain balance and deter camp raiding but not making it impossible for a well drilled team.

A computer control military presence?? A very small town/camp/holding???? Ideal place for trade/safe haven.

A reason to go zombie hunting- could be linked with a computer based presence/military as mentioned above.

Bigger map/servers.

Maybe a new map or 2 in future.

More guns and more uniqueness between weapons. The AS50 shouldnt be the best gun all the time. There should be a reason for using others.

A lot of the things mentioned here are already planned.

New features

- A new/modified map, "Chernarus Plus".

- Chernarus Plus will have more interactive (enter-able) buildings. Non-interactive buildings will be easier to spot.

- Hand combat, in addition to the melee weapons we already have.

- Dogs can be a survivor's companion. "Expect them to track, to warn you of danger, and to follow you. And then get shot. And then you QQ."

- There will be no safe areas on the map.

- A quiver for crossbow bolts.

- Weapon and gear degradation.

- A diary system, allowing other players to see notes left by you when you're offline, not around, or dead.

- A robust web interface, as previewed at Rezzed earlier this summer.

- Narrative that will describe the virus background.

Improvements over the mod

- More weapons. Many of which are custom, "find at home" style weaponry.

- Zombies will not switch to walking when indoors (once pathing for zambies is fixed and their lifecycle is implemented).

- More clothing and player customization, including colors and face.

- The humanity system will be fine tuned.

- More robust weather system, redesigned from scratch.

- Zombies will be much more frightening.

- Improved broken limb system.

- And entirely new hive syncing system.

- Improved anti-cheat measures.

- Improved player UI. The inventory is being reworked from scratch.

- The female character will be feature complete.

- Better performance, including faster loading.

Future plans

- More islands other than Chernarus, created by either the dev team or the community. Players will travel to them by boat or air.

- Increase max player count. 100-200 would be easily achievable, but any more would require a larger map.

- More wildlife. "Horses would be cool too."

- Animations will be improved.

- There are vague mentions of a revised server hosting scheme.

- Add "methods that allow players to create their own systems for things, so if they wanted to create such a system they could". So perhaps think about Garry's Mod and how players can program in aspects that affect their own gameplay. Not sure on this one.

- Underground "bases" and other construction, but Rocket mentions that it's a pretty ambitious endeavor to develop.

- Group play and faction support.
