How long before you starve/die of thirst?

So after a server shat the bed, I got dumped back on the beach hungry and with nothing. And I do mean nothing. All my cool guns, toolbelt, food and backpack, GONE! Was a little bit pissed off for a few seconds, but then I thought: HARD MODE UNLOCKED :D I had a tonne of end game stuff before and life was getting boring, so I thought; "Fuck it! Let's do this!"

I then proceeded to claw myself back. Within an hour I had a knife, hatchet, double barrelled shotgun, a crossbow and an Alice pack to put them in... but no food. I swear to God this game knows when you're desperate for something and then will be a trolling dick about it. I found loads of coke and pepsi, but not one single tin of :beans: and my food indicator was flashing like crazy... And it kept doing that for at least half an hour. Nothing happened. No blood loss or anything.

In the end I got forced into Cherno. I don't like to go there at the best of times, but someone was throwing flares and chemlights everywhere and someone was popping off a CZ. No idea what they were doing. Having a disco? Anyway, totally at random I find a chicken crossing the road (yeah I know) in the industrial park, which suddenly caught a bad case of "crossbow bolt in the face". I them cooked him up on the burning barrel in the construction site, then fled like a scared bunny.

However the food indicator was flashing for ages and I was wondering how long it took for you to actually starve. My time could had been extended due to one of the servers I was on rebooted without telling me (admins, I fucking LOVE IT when you do that btw >:() so I checked the wiki but I couldn't find a straight answer.

tl;dr: How long does it take before something bad happens when the food and drink icons start flashing?

I was told they blink for 10 minutes and then you die, or start to die. I've never actually had it happen yet so no clue tbh. I was told by a group member though.

feels like 10 minutes when its blinking but you only loose 10 blood every second

When it starts blinking it's the final stage, before you start losing blood. I guess depending on how fast you move, the final stage will last between 5-10minutes and then you'll start losing blood 10 every second.

10 blood per tick, something like 5 - 10 minutes after they start blinking. Not a big deal unless your legs are broken, but that's how I learned the starvation system ;)

If it is ten minutes I was saved by the server disconnecting. It was a lot longer then that it was flashing.
