Nostorian 0 Posted August 26, 2012 I would agree.I would like to see more ammo conversions or the crafting of ammo.Since irl you (wel at gun range atleast) only lose the tip.Anything else can be used to make new bullets. So why not in dayz? But ofc i would like to see stanag - akm ak-74 and vice versa.Keeps the game a bit more fun.And for me.I would not save ALL my ammo for players only. Then i go back to what i like to do most.Shoot zombies. Frozen (DayZ) 144 Posted August 26, 2012 But ofc i would like to see stanag - akm ak-74 and vice versa.so it doesnt bother you that these guns fire different caliber cartridges?i say no to ammo conversion, but say yes to magazine conversion.the only possible variants that are missing:1 FN FAL to DMR2 AS 50 to M1073 M240 to FN FAL and DMR4 M240 to STANAG

Removing and installing a new primer into a casing requires special tools. So does sizing the cartridge and adding a new bullet. Choosing the right type of gunpowder and it's appropriate measure requires a nice conversion table. A miscalculation can lead to total weapon failure and maybe a few less fingers if you're lucky. You also cannot use random materials to make bullets without destroying your gun.None of this is easily done in the field and all of the proper components are hard to find even in the states. Maybe 1 out of 1000 gun owners reload their own ammo, maybe. I can't imagine what it would be like in some poor country/state like Chernarus. There is also a reason why we can't slap STANAG rounds into an AK. They simply don't fit.
