dirtystinkinninja 3 Posted May 29, 2012 You've done it Day Z, You've pissed me off so much, I almost don't want to play this game.Spent almost 4 hours, Just getting a weapon, Server shuts down, I find a new server, And it apparently set me back 2 hours, to where I had essentially Nothing. Then in this new server, when I get my 2 hours back (Give or take a few items) I come walking out of a building, Some random fuck tard goes and shoots me(It's people that shoot on sight that ruin this game). I know this probably seems like a lot of bitching, but this has happened to me on multiple occasions, and it's at this point that I'm about to give up on Day Z. Maybe Day Z deserves another chance in the future, But not now while the children continue to destroy this game.
Bandit Hunter 29 Posted May 29, 2012 Such is life in the zone. Unique Players: 122,679Let me do the math.122,679-1--------122,678AlphaEdit: Whoops, refreshed the DayZ website. Back up to 122679
UbiquitousBadGuy 846 Posted May 29, 2012 Take a couple days to relax, play something different, and generally some good ol' R&R. Then come back and try again.Alternatively, hold off until at least Beta stage and see if it's still to your liking.
Reaper (DayZ) 2 Posted May 29, 2012 Try mixing up your gameplay style mate, I was usually just spawning and heading for a coastal major city, now I'm looting smaller buildings for just enough supplies to head north and starting to team up with players (only via steam/TS) and having even more fun then I was before.Grab a recording program too and record some moments of gameplay, seems to make it funner for me knowing that I'm getting some cool footage for a future video. Metric (DayZ) 6 Posted May 29, 2012 Well, you've described gaming in an alpha quite succinctly. This game is brutal and unforgiving, the guy that shot you is a fellow DayZ'er not a fucktard, have some respect. Its getting so old hearing all you whiners whinge about players killing you, It doesn't ruin anything, it just teaches you how to play the game a little better every time you make a simple mistake and die.Yes, getting killed by another player is actually your own mistake. Be aware of your surroundings, learn to survive in this unforgiving place, it is so satifying when you do, and so heart wrenching when you don't.Just play it or move on. l mandrake 61 Posted May 29, 2012 The shoot-on-sight phenomenon is aggravated severely by a lack of functional direct chat.IF direct chat worked properly, and ideally was put back into the centre of the screen like in op flashpoint, players would find it MUCH easier to state their intentions quickly to each other.example: I was creeping through a barn, heard footsteps nearby, wanted to call on side chat but knew it would reveal my pos to bandits so stayed quiet. A dude came face to face with me around a corner, he had a crossbow pointed at my head, I had an ak, split second decision = no more him.I would rather have called out to him on Direct chat when I heard his footsteps. Perhaps we could have avoided the mess. Then again maybe he was a bandit stalking me. Guess I'll never know....

Sinoby 39 Posted May 29, 2012 I play on servers with beta-patch and working direct chat. I had some nice encounters with other players lately. People are actually proposing to help, we've shared some supplies. I think that with the fix of direct chat and some babies getting bored of just running to major cities to DM there, the game will get better.
dirtystinkinninja 3 Posted May 29, 2012 Yeah, Well communication is probably the biggest problem with Alpha.Well' date=' you've described gaming in an alpha quite succinctly. Be aware of your surroundings, learn to survive in this unforgiving place, it is so satifying when you do, and so heart wrenching when you don't.Just play it or move on.[/quote']So when I spawn and get shot by someone because they feel that shooting on sight is necessary it's just a part of the game right? It makes me a better player for just randomly blasting at people when they spawn? And it's not my own mistake when I die exactly when I spawn. The shoot-on-sight phenomenon is aggravated severely by a lack of functional direct chat.IF direct chat worked properly' date=' and ideally was put back into the centre of the screen like in op flashpoint, players would find it MUCH easier to state their intentions quickly to each other.example: I was creeping through a barn, heard footsteps nearby, wanted to call on side chat but knew it would reveal my pos to bandits so stayed quiet. Better player is able to win firefight if he cannot avoid it. Better player is able to use game functions to communicate / achieve etc.Communication is not fubar, it is one of the most advanced VOIP system I seen in game to date. Point that its bugged currently, let them fix it first.

Man, I hate it when it happens. But I still come back and start over.90 hours in now, and I've died twelve times. Last three deaths, I'd been alive for over 16 hours of in-game playtime. Currently I'm at 14, still going strong.I died a lot in the start, but I learned.
