Don't fix the graphical glitch, just REMOVE the things that cause it!

Recommended Posts

I really do not understand why getting rid of the big grey graphics glitch caused by dead military zombies and barbed wire is such a problem.

1.7.2.5 did NOT solve the issue, it only made it less frequent. Let's look at the things which cause the problem -

Dead military zombies - Purely aesthetic, no practical use

Barb wire fences - The only use for these is to troll players by blocking off buildings

So if we weigh it up, it comes down to a simple choice -

Keep a game breaking glitch which makes it impossible to see in the game

OR

Remove the most hated and useless item in the game, and some useless scenery

To me, it is a simple choice. Please remove the culprits of the glitch, I'm fed up of getting shot in the face or having my legs broken by zombies because I can't see.

The 'fix' seems to be to instantly dump all the LOD levels as soon as the dead soldiers load on your computer, which for me leads to a framerate of about 2 and my backpack looking like cherry cobbler after my extended family's gotten to it. I have to go into my video properties and toggle the memory setting off of 'Default' and back again to get things looking normal.

This isn't much of a fix, and is very inconvenient to have to do considering the places I have to do it (Stary tents, NWAF, Green Mountain...).

And since barbed wire is only used to grief and doesn't even stop zombies? It can be removed.

DIY.

Do it yourself?

How exactly would I do that? I'm not a dayz dev, I can't just remove things from the game. I don't know what you mean.

Indeed, why do the dead "AI" bodies cause those glitches? Default dead AI and player units don't do it.

Are they even usual infantry units with setdamage 1.0? Since you can't access their inventory (even empty) they seem to have been created in another way...

Doing that would be against the DayZ development pattern.

Barbwire being used a a grieving tool. Answer: Add bear traps

Graphical problems: Answer: Lets think about adding dogs

Zombies zig zagging and killing you through walls.: Answer: Less zigzagging, make them faster and leap 30 feet with a flying bone breaking kung-fu fist.

1 alone guy doing the coding, reading forum posts: Answer: Start talking to MS and Sony about a console version, Must get more on my plate, not busy enough.

Zombies spawning next to you in open areas: Answer: Make them also spawn next to you in rooms and stairs that player already checked or cleared.

It's a clustercluck of confusion, thats just the way it is. No rhyme or reason

The amount of people who suggest these so called "fixes" as if they are guaranteed to work is ridiculous.

"change vsync on and off"

"change video memory setting to default and back"

"change video memory to low"

"turn on and off antialiasing"

"flush your video memory"

They DO NOT ALWAYS WORK, and in many cases NEVER WORK for some people, me included. Just because it works for you, it doesn't mean it will work for everyone else.

I have tried every fix under the sun, and none of them consistently fix the glitch.

The reason they don't remove them is because it will actually make it harder to fix, and its actually a step back in development.

So? My point is that they don't need to fix it, they can just remove it all together.

Removing it won't make it hard to fix, they could easily have some condition that allows zombie corpses and barb wire to exist in their development version but not in the release.

"a step back in development" is subjective. It would improve the experience tremendously at almost no cost to the games features (in fact I would say gain as wire fence sucks). Things have been removed before, was that a "step back in development"?

Because the dev team doesn't want it removed. And if your refering to things like helicopters, they weren't removed, just disabled. They can't really disable the bodies, and as far as I know, barbwire is fixed. Me and my friends haven't seen it.
