Vest Pouches!

Vest pouches are found in the game already. However they take up the backpack slot and offer very little space. The starter bag has more slots then the biggest vest pouch i believe. Now my idea is that instead of putting the pouch on your back, you are able to equip it to the front. So now you have a bag on your bag and a vest pouch on your chest. Rocket could always implement some sort of speed reduction but i highly doubt he will do this.

Also if it is possible rocket should allow you to reload ammo directly from your vest pouch into your gun

The sentence after this one is in response if this ever gets implemented saying that vest pouches should be given when you spawn.

Vest pouches also should not be given on start, they should be found like how people find them now and backpacks. It would be alot easier to make supply runs to town when your in need of food and water, or if you need that extra space to carry ammo.

I think that you should put the vest pouch in the secondary weapon slot instead of a pistol and allow a primary to be realoaded directly from it.

I like the fanny pack idea with the cvech vest pouch, and you can open it just like the backpack.

That would be pretty cool

Vest pouches also should not be given on start, they should be found like how people find them now and backpacks. It would be alot easier to make supply runs to town when your in need of food and water, or if you need that extra space to carry ammo.

So wait, you mean you want people to start without the limited inventory they have? Only have the starting backpack? Where exactly do you think you're holding all that gear to begin with? It's sure not your pockets.

ah i see what you mean, then what is the point of the vest pouch then? Why even keep it in the game at all if the bag you spawn with is already bigger then some of the vest pouches and the bigger ones are abundant throughout the map.

Well, I've lost my own bag a couple times, so any bag would be appreciated. And it may have been in the hope that saving tent and vehicle contents wouldn't delete the contents of a bag.

Well most likely 9 out of 10 whenever you find a bag and it will be either a czech,alice or a new players starter bag. I have only found a couple of vest pouches and it was when i had either spawned or gotten a bigger bag already.

I feel like backpacks need looked at. Right now you find Czech and Alice packs all over the place, meaning that the Assault Packs and Coyote Patrol Packs that you find in military spawns are...less than useful.

Yeah, I'd guess that 90% of my time in game has been with an ALICE pack on.

For the record, the twelve-slot inventory we enjoy in DayZ is not normal in Arma2. Most units only have a 6-slot inventory, and some have only three. The survivor dude with the cargo pants and safari vest is using all those pockets as part of his normal 12-slot inventory. If you had a 3-slot inventory, then that 6-slot pack would be mighty handy, but it's just unnecessary in this mod, since you start out with max size basic inventory and an 8-slot pack.

I say take out the vest pouch, make the Assault Pack and Czech Backpack more common in military and residential sites, respectively, and make the ALICE pack about as rare as the compass is. The Coyote pack is just about right, I think. I've only found one in all my adventures, not counting the ones I take from dead players or tents I discover.

yeah i mean otherwise the pouch is basically a useless item,unless you somehow lost your bag and you cant find a alice or czech pack for whatever reason.

Allowing you to equip it to your chest instead of your back and/or allowing you to directly reload ammo from the pouches would be nice. Its like how a chemlight would seem useless in the dark because a flare can light up a larger area however, a chemlight is only see able up to a certain amount of meters and they last much longer.

I dont know if the engine allows that, but i'd like to see some vests with predefined slots. Like some vest where only one sort of ammunition fits in it. So one vest can hold a lot of Shotgun type ammo, while other can hold 3 granates and pistol ammo and so on.

I think the max range you can see a chemlight on someone and on the ground is 100m.

However it would be a meaningful item if they just changed how it worked and where you equipped it.

I dont know if the engine allows that, but i'd like to see some vests with predefined slots. Like some vest where only one sort of ammunition fits in it. So one vest can hold a lot of Shotgun type ammo, while other can hold 3 granates and pistol ammo and so on.

The engine may or may not allow it, however it does not hurt to add my suggestion. Rocket can either try to add it and it may not work but that will not apply for the standalone. You can always do different vests for different ammo types where one vest will hold more of a certain type of ammo then another.

With the size of the inventory the character has, he might as well not need a backpack to begin with, the backpack is a luxury. A few characters I've played, I actually actively searched out the vest pouch, just so I could be a smaller and harder to see target and still carry a few extra sicks of morphine and some painkillers.

Nice its very nice to see someone be on the side of a vest pouch wearer. Now even though the backpack is less visible because its smaller your character will stick out like a sore thumb anyways. If you wear a ghillie suit it doesn't matter because it will hide your backpack no matter how large it is. I have no idea how the camo clothing affects the visibility of a player.

It sounds like a nice idea, however i believe they should just have like how you can place armor on yourself in various games, the slots.

here's my thought of how it could work: it turns 4 of your pistol slots and a couple of your toolbelt slots into backpack slots :thumbsup:
