simple point: car's shouldn't necessarily explode if hitting an object, especially on low speed.

True, I brushed a tree with a car once and died, but then it was red on almost every indicator, my own fault tbh.

My car went into a lake and caught fire before exploding. Seems legit.

Just make sure you have fully repaired the hull, engine and windscreen and then your car won't be prone to exploding. fuel tank is just so you don't leak fuel. :)

EDIT: Oh and a bit more on topic, im sure this will get addressed with new physics engine in RV4, and tweaks made by Rocket and the DayZ team to the engine in standalone.
