ironman Tetsuo 181 Posted August 15, 2012 (edited) imho, you should get +humanity points for the amount -humanity points the other person has.let's say you have 0 humanity.you kill a bandit with -1000 points...you should get +1000 (or something similar).you kill a hero with +1000 points...you should get -1000 points (or something similar).that will automatically make people learn that actions = consequences.massive -humanity = lottery target on your assHumanity has nothing to do with justice or consequences, killing someone no matter what they did doesn't make you a more humane person. You could take the world's most innocent person and have them execute every scumbag on death row and they wouldn't come out the other side feeling very good about it. Delta Smoke 01 765 Posted August 15, 2012 Taking a life is taking a life. Its still going to affect you in a bad way IRL. Those that say it wont affect them are more affected than most. as they no longer comprehend humanity.
Buffjesus 357 Posted August 15, 2012 you dont lose humanity when killing a bandit (ive been doing nothing but player hunting since the patch)pretty sure you gain like 100 or so too. always forget to look at it before and after

bazbake 456 Posted August 15, 2012 It only takes 1 murder to get a bandit skin. However, it doesn't take very long to lose that bandit skin (although it's impossible to lose it immediately).Bandit skins mean you're prone to murder. It doesn't mean you're a mass murderer or a psycho killer. It's more of a sign that, "Yes, it is okay to kill this person if you see them since they have a habit of shooting first and asking questions later..."I don't think it's supposed to mean, "This person is the bane of all existence, hunt them down and slaughter them."I think they'd have to add an extra bandit skin like a "Super killer supreme monster" skin at about -15,000 in order for you to get bonus points for killing them.
RuneFire 2 Posted August 16, 2012 Humanity has nothing to do with justice or consequences, killing someone no matter what they did doesn't make you a more humane person. You could take the world's most innocent person and have them execute every scumbag on death row and they wouldn't come out the other side feeling very good about it.neither does being able to sprint for 50km straight.some things are there for realism, some things are there for balancing/fun.if a game was 100% abotu realism and ignored "fun" factors, what kind of boring game would that be? oh wait... ARMA2.
Scott Pilgrim 65 Posted August 16, 2012 Killing someone is never humane. Even if it is the right thing to do.Perhaps bandit killing could have it's own skin? Like... bandit slayer.Disgraced made a thread about skins, seemed like a good idea.http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/71150-skins-not-skills/
Mos1ey 6301 Posted August 16, 2012 IMO you should lose humanity for survivor murders, gain humanity from healing people and receive no change in humanity from killing a bandit.
Buick72 27 Posted August 16, 2012 (edited) Murders still murder even if you are a 'hero'.Tell that to Hollywood. This reminds me of a discussion friends and I had about Fallout 3, and getting good karma for killing people. I always thought you should never get good karma for murder, it just seemed... inappropriate...Who knows though, maybe killing that one bandit will save 10 peoples lives that day... *shrug* Edited August 16, 2012 by Buick72
P5ykoOHD 63 Posted August 16, 2012 (edited) Bandit or Survior ...No matter who you kill, that is still a human ... thus losing humanity, no matter who you kill.If you can sleep irl knowing that you killed someone (good or evil) then you have lost humanity. And about the "americans" talking trash about europeans, don't forget about your own history (Sure, you hardly have any, but not gonna get into a fight)PS for those thinking I am taking 1 side:I am australian, living in france. mattdbx@yahoo.com 180 Posted August 16, 2012 In real life if you gun down (or hatchet someone) to death, even if they were a bad person, it doesn't make you more sane, moral, or ethically sound. On the contrary, if you were a moral person who was forced to do such things by necessity for survival (or revenge), you'd slowly begin to slide towards a psychological breakdown, or a complete ethics overhaul. You wouldn't slowly begin to be more sane, and more humane by killing those you deemed inhumane. "Be careful when fighting monsters, lest you become one." red_orchestra@msn.com 112 Posted August 16, 2012 Self Defence is not being humane, it's defending yourself. Punishing someone with execution is not humane, it's still murder.
gambles 234 Posted August 16, 2012 To be honest the whole system is flawed, It seems to go completely against what Rocket set out to do. He wanted the game to be shaped by human interaction and the players choices without mechanics that make the gameplay feel artificial, or used words to that effect. The system in place... somehow makes my character want to wear a headscarf or a lumberjacks shirt depending how well behaved I have been, if my character was really a bandit he would kill someone with the "Hero skin" and take his clothes and disguise himself. It's a silly mechanic in my eyes, I don't mind people knowing that I'm a "bandit" but when my skin changes randomly and deletes my backpack consistently because of it I get pretty frustrated, it is an Alpha I know but the mechanic has been tested and with the amount of scripts being used what stops someone just putting a skin on anyway to trick people, its also easily exploitable so...So basically, to get to your point... most of the world doesn't operate under "an eye for an eye" so I'm guessing that is where Rocket is going with the no humanity for killing bandits. The Norwegian massacre dude (I won't say his name) was responsible for a lot of deaths but the government haven't taken execution as an option.I don't believe that rocket had planned on the shoot on sight sinking in so deep. Or that everyone would just turn to banditry because they want to play the game as a deathmatch. This game is going standalone and has to have some apeal to atleast a decently wide audience. As far as what rocket once having a slightly different skin when your good/bad is HARDLY destroying his goal. Infact it may be a bit more realistic, people who shoot people on sight in real life or kill people for fun are generally pretty screwed in the head, that cant be translated into game so we get a slight model change. Maybe people should be playing the game as though they would in a zombie apocalypse instead of playing say deathmatch classic in cherno.2 pennies right there! JesseS 6 Posted August 16, 2012 Killing a bandit doesn't make you more of a hero. Killing is the killer is unjust and still won't matter. That just makes you the killer and the ex-killer the victim.
tandwan 250 Posted August 28, 2012 I love the fact that the Americans are hating having to look like the Taliban for being bandits. Many whining threads.Yeah, those westerners... man, they sure complain about wearing that Taliban hood. Way to stereotype people, good call there. Did I get it right there Mr. Forum Team Member? You were stereotyping people from the "West" saying that WE were the ones complaining because we had to wear a shemagh? It's not a 'Taliban hood', it's something most people who live in arid (desert) regions of the world wear so that way the sun doesn't burn up the top of their head. Ironic that you immediately said it was a Taliban hood, which is again, stereotype. So let's see here, you've stereotyped people from the west as affiliating a shemagh with the Taliban. You also in essence said anyone wearing a shemagh is Taliban.I don't think we're the ones with the problem there Mr. Forum Team Member.
