dayz voice chat not working?

whenever i try to talk to someone with direct chat noone can hear me. I had a friend come to me so I could try to talk to him in voice chat and he says he can't hear me. I even went to a server that had side chat enabled and went on that to try to talk and nobody started screaming at me calling me a noob for using sidechat to talk. I'm holding caps lock and it has the icon showing that you can talk. I can type and people can see that, but noone can hear me.

Does anybody know of a way to fix this or has anybody had this problem?

p.s my mic works perfectly and talk to my friends on skype and they can hear me fine so it's something wrong with the game
