bazbake 456 Posted August 15, 2012 I need to know if it's okay to kill people in Ghillie suits.
DR@GON (DayZ) 20 Posted August 15, 2012 (edited) I've got the bandit head wrap now unfortunately, tho I guess I deserve it in some ways... I started playing when there was no identifier for players being bandits or heroes, so I adopted a KoS playstyle due to my previous experiences with people claiming to be friendly only to stab me in the back, the rampant cheating has made me twitchy too. Also, I've tried helping noobs, only to have their lack of stealth and com chatter give us away to not so friendly players in the area. I generally don't mind helping players like this out in other games, but in a game where they're more likely to get me killed in the process, my patience runs short. Now that it's more obvious to I.D. players as villians / heroes, I'll likely stick to killing other bandits for the most part. However, I still consider certain areas to be "desperation zones" and I generally don't give or expect mercy in those areas. The coastal cities and airfields are those places. I generally only go to those places when I'm gearing up a fresh spawn and don't like to hang around them looking for trouble. For me, when I kill a player, it's not for easy loot, or the thrill of doing it, simply self preservation in this game. It's really hard to play with a team when you aren't on something like teamspeak... although player skill can change this, and I'm yet to run into someone who's both skilled and willing to hold their fire (other than my clan mates)... lol Edited August 15, 2012 by DR@GON
Grodenn 53 Posted August 15, 2012 I was running around with a hatchet in the middle of Cherno, near the fire station. Guy was the other side of town (or even outside it). He has no discernable reason to shoot at me, other than it would be fun. Not judging him, the game incentivises you to shoot other players with sniper rifles because it's not worth shooting zombies with it. You get a new toy, you want to use it. He obviously needed the practice because he fired three, maybe four shots and missed with all of them giving me time to get away.Personally I'm a little disappointed every time time I upgrade my weapons. I'd love to be able to engage another player will an Enfield knowing he probably has similar, but chances are an opponent will have something good so I need to match that. I'm tempted to PK every time I get a new weapon just for the rush, but choose not to, but If the game made it harder even to be tempted I think that would be a step in the right direction.Enfield is good enough for almost any mid-short range combat (not extremely close though), I won a 2v6 with me and my mate equipped with enfields, our enemies had 1 m24 3 AKM 1 M16A2 and last guy I think only had a pistol. I would say the enfield is easily the best lowgrade weapon in game and you can kill people with far greater equipment as long as you know what you are doing.
