Opening a door should not break, bleed, shock, and severe blood loss

Recommended Posts

I was in a gray utility building - the one with 2 rooms total where 1 room has 1 door, the other room has 2 doors - and while prone I opened a door.

I now have a broken leg, about 20% health loss, I started bleeding out, and I went into shock.

My 'suggestion' is to review this mechanic.

I've read that the design & development team prides themselves on realism, but there's no world - even a fictional one with zombies - where I open a door and do damage equal to a head-on, high-speed vehicle collision.

Thanks for reading.

Sounds like one of those pesky bugs. They are pretty common in games, never mind that this one is in alpha.

Do you know what this forum is for?

I stubbed my toe opening a door yesterday. I swear to god it's one of the most painful things in the world. I think it's this kind of realism they're going for.

yeah this happens a bit, best thing is to just stay away from the door when you open it, don't be prone and open a gate or door back onto yourself.

This is not a problem with DayZ being in alpha, these problems have been around since Arma 2 was released. The way the game handles collision detection is primitive, and will hopefully be fixed in Arma III with the introduction of the PhysX engine.

Why would that be a game mechanic.. That makes no sense.

Collision detection.

Avoid doors, trees, gates, etc.

What does number of posts have to do with sunderstanding the purpose of the suggestion forum?
