More Unlockable Doors

Recommended Posts

Start of the suggestion.

Hello This is my first Thread,im starting it with a suggestion!.

Simple,more unlockable doors.

I mean how many times you have wandered on a house killing zombies, wasting ammo and finding out its one of those houses who you cant get in?.

I ask for a new update that would make more house types to have doors unlocked.

Or make those doors that weren't unlockable at least able to be open now.

End of the suggestion.

They aren't locked, there is nothing inside the buildings. Rocket didn't make the game, he modified it. Arma 2 has buildings you can go in, and buildings you can't, it would take far too much time for him to go and make a new interior for every building in the map, if he even could.

Apart from putting new house models on the map you are stuck with most building's none enterable, that's just the Cherno map, if this mod makes it to different map's then we could have many more open building's... :)

The game is quite big already, add zombies, players, the huge amount of vegetation plus every building being enterable would require a massive amount of work, also your game might slow down to like a few fps.

basically the game is already big, making it with every building enter-able without some dedicated person 24/7 will be a damn tough job.

But it can be done.

engine limitations

remodelling

Someone please explain this to me.

Engine Limitations - Not really but having more enterable buildings would lower performance. I'm not sure it would be a colossal drop though as interiors aren't very detailed in ArmA.

Remodelling - You'd need someone to edit the house model for each building that is closed off to give it an interior, then replace the ones in game.

I think it could be feasible with community assistance. Once the buildings are modelled get volunteers to revamp a village each as it would be fairly simple. Then merge the changes at the end.

Perhaps you were sarcastic, but i also explain coz many player does not know, and then, create threads like this.

Bhoemia staff, has created a number of houses, complete of all, and other house closed, without anything inside them, but only the external structure.

Solution:

With an editor to create maps for Arma2, should replace those houses with other, already complete, taken from other areas of the same map.

Or (better solution which requires time), with a 3D application (like 3DSmax, Maya, C4D) for modeling and texturing, create new structure, complete with internal structure etc.

I know what remodelling is, thank you.

What i implied is that this is easily done but indeed requires a lot of time while not having a big enough impact on gameplay to be introduced in alpha. Though some small towns don't have loot spawns at all.

Doubt it will cause a significant drop. Especially with servers enforcing view distance that denies my sniper cravings.

…Doubt it will cause a significant drop…

Infact i think the same…

I would be fast, 3D modeling it's my job, textures and shaders are ready, inside Arma 2, but unfortunately did not have time even to begin :(

So why post?

Someone please explain this to me.

you were either trolling or you don't actually read what you post, putting "please explain" after typing "remodelling" and then stating you know what it is, hmmm a bit curious if you ask me.

Engine limitations, my ass. ArmA 2 is supposed to handle massive battles with armor and jets and you are talking about five time more static interiors in a world where there are rarely light vehicles moving around.

And this is the release version.

Yes, that was sarcasm. I thought people know what they are talking about. Sorry, my mistake.

My hope is that Arma 3 will eventually see a remodelled Chernarus map released by BIS as paid DLC - which will be optimised and contain more enterable buildings, the perfect setting for DayZ 2....

The only problem with what you are posting as far as that vid is concerned is that guy had one of the best computers known.

the case in point being not everyone has the room for such a tower.

Also no ones saying its not possible, just that it will take a long time to make it work etc.

unless your all content with buildings becoming enter-able bit by bit im sure its not going to be done any time soon.

And he is playing that on quite high settings.

I already said that it is easy but very time consuming. I could quote myself if you like.

This is definitely beta content. It makes little sense that third of towns don't spawn anything at all and cuts out a large chunk of urban warfare.

this is silly, it would require re-editing the entire map causing everyone to download a new map. and making that map would be 10 times the hassle. If Rocket was to do this we would never see the Beta of DayZ

Let this drop.

P.s. Takistan could have open buildings because it didn't have the trees that Chenra has. You can't just have everything, it would funnel DayZ in to players that had NASA Supper computers, anyone else that had anything less wouldn't be able to run it.
