About TeaLeaf

  • Rank
    Survivor
  1. Why? Because the limited amount of buildings worth visiting makes us all act in a very "gamey" way where we just make a beeline for the one or two places we know will have some loot in. It gets a little tiresome after a while. How? Just add some spawn points around the non-enterable buildings. Put them in places like doorways or just in places where they won't clip into nearby buildings like at the bottom of the outdoors stair cases some houses have or natural alcoves. Lower the spawn rate of loot in all of the common spawn points (residential, industrial) so that the average loot in a particular area stays about the same.

    Spawning with a map?

Out of game maps are just better. I don't give a crap what happens in regards to the in-game one.

Solution to Pvp logging,Alt F4ing, etc.

It's impossible to stop DCs without also screwing legit crashes. Choose the lesser of two evils, which in my opinion is occasionally fucking over the poor legit guys.

    Barbwire

Wire fencing is supposed to allow people to claim buildings, but seeing as how any sort of real large scale persistent isn't ever going to happen until/if DayZ becomes a standalone game I'd be fine with it just going. There are the few exceptions where it results in something cool, but mostly its just annoying.

Yeah, do this. The hard part about meeting up with buddies is actually crossing Elecktro and/or Cherno if you happen to spawn on different coasts. With this we can find people within 10 minutes of running if we all spawn on the same coast.

    Chernarus should have a story

I think there should be a story, but it shouldn't really be obvious. It should stay in rocket's head and he should just hint at what's really going.
  7. I think hand signals etc would help, but in general the reason people kill each other is that there is no real benefit to teaming up with strangers. With IRL friends, sure, but randoms just make you paranoid and you often get separated by desync. My policy and the policy, it seems, of most other people is to just avoid randoms altogether but if they make an obvious effort to close distance with you or just surprise you around a corner you blow them away. Shooting in ArmA2 is hard, but it's not so hard that you'll risk allowing someone to get the first shot off and kill you instantly.

Oh, I think he meant just cap the max lives you can have at a time. Like you can regenerate up to 3 and it stays there instead on for infinity. Which I agree with and should have made clear in my post.

DayZ - ACE (No CoD Kiddie Comments)

I think being able to run forever is a fair compromise between gameplay and realism. I realise people want this game to be uber-realistic but I think you should at least be able to explore a few towns in a 2 hour gaming session instead of making it 50% of the way before having to log off.

What are you on about? You have infinite lives at the moment. Did you think I meant people just pop back into existence in the same spot they are killed?

How about a lives system? You start with 3 lives. Lives regenerate one per 30 minutes of real time whether you are playing or not, but if you survive for 30 minutes in game they all come back at once. If you don't have any lives you must wait for a new one to generate. It's unlikely you will die 3 times in 30 minutes unless you are trying to re-spawn for a good spot and if you waste those two lives on trying to get a good spot and then take a zombie to the face you'll feel pretty stupid. People wouldn't be able to re-roll for better spawns constantly and the chances of it hurting someone playing properly is fairly low (and wouldn't take long for them to get back in anyway). There really needs to be a way to spawn with friends though. Not on them in the middle of the map, maybe after someone has spawned friends can spawn on them with 2 minutes or so? EG Player1 spawns, Player2 types "/spawnon Player1" in chat, Player1 gets a notice saying Player2 is trying to spawn on them and types "/accept Player2" to accept the spawn then Player2 spawns near Player1.

    Interactive Chernogorsk Map

This is ultra laggy for me.

    Mapfinding

It's totally random if appears but check supermarkets, restaurants and office buildings. Those buildings have the most "civilian" spawn points which may spawn maps. The above comment about servers making a difference is probably just coincidence.

    Unchangeable gender

I think gender should be changeable until the system is more stable. Too many people are getting stuck on the wrong side of the divide.
