How to get updates.

I tried on six launcher and six updater to get 1.7.1.5 so I can play on the updated servers but all my attempts have failed... Any help to a new player? Or should i just play on the old version?

Stay playing on the old version. Six Launcher does not support 1.7.2.5 yet. When the developer is ready for it to be released, Six Launcher will patch it.

There are a bunch of other mirrors on the homepage, put them in your dayz folder, personally I keep the existing files in another folder so I can swap between versions if necessary

If you use sixlauncher, your files will be overridden with 1.7.2.4 since 1.7.2.5 is pre-release, so use dayzcommander or arma to launch the game.
