Sneakers O'Toole 57 Posted August 13, 2012 Does anyone know at what range you have to be for the AS/50 to become silent to your victim?
Zeromentor 169 Posted August 13, 2012 A headshot, the victim doesn't hear it.Or, I think past 1km. Maybe further. Some people have their volume maxed, so maybe further than that.
Sgt.Asshat 607 Posted August 13, 2012 455m (sauce http://dayzdb.com/database/weapon-comparison ) so make it about 500-800, easy!

Sneakers O'Toole 57 Posted August 13, 2012 I was 800m away, from my last victim (Elektro sniper), so I wanted to know if I had to worry about his m8's ghosting me 'cos he was part of a clan.@sgt.asshat: Huh, thats strange. because according to that link you posted it says the dmr is much quieter. But here http://www.dayzwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Weapon_Comparison_Table it says the dmr is 'very loud' and the AS50 is 'moderately loud'

Cort 5 Posted August 13, 2012 Zombies hear it at 455m but the AS50 actually has a very mild audible sound in game to players, it's completely silent at 500m probably can't hear it at 300m even. I sat near some zombies while my friend dropped them from 500m I heard nothing, only saw zombies dropping. The AKM is louder than the AS50 to players. Past 180 meters, zombies don't usually come after you. At most, they scramble towards you for 20 feet, then stop and start walking around again.Next, I've hunted people firing rounds from the AS50. My volume is half way (50 out of 100) and I heard rounds coming from Sniper Hill in electro, when I was at the other firehouse (not the one next to the hill), which was roughly 700 meters away from the shooter. Whom I killed (no spotter, I snuck up on him and used a friend to distract him by sending him running through electro). So the sound does carry. Also, past 300 meters it sounds a lot like an M16, or other smaller caliber rifle. Which can be easily mistaken, or not even heard (note: I have no music running, so gunshots are easy for me to detect).
