Serthure (DayZ) 5 Posted May 28, 2012 The scenario I am thinking:I have been playing for a few hours now, I got a nice bag, good tools, enough to survive on my own in the wild.Say I need to make a run to a village or town and I don't want to lose anything. Can I, for example, drop my bag somewhere, go get whatever I wanted to get, and retrieve it? Will it despawn after a set time?I'd love to know this.Oh, and how long do dead players's bodies stand there to be looted? Forever? Or do they also have a set time until they disappear? Thanks! Bean (DayZ) 1 Posted May 28, 2012 For the bag thing, I have no clue. But I know for a fact that dead bodies only stay around for about fifteen minutes before they despawn. It's in the changelog somewhere, I could find it for you if you want.
dazza_bo 2 Posted May 28, 2012 Bodies stay for 5 minutes I believe.

ravejesus 0 Posted May 28, 2012 I've dropped my pack several times when picking up another for a teammate or before I go into Hostile Territory and don't want to lose my "Good" gear. It's never despawned quickly for me. Always stays for a long time.
mosvani@msn.com 0 Posted May 28, 2012 Today I dropped a coyote bag and it was immediately gone. Luckily I found an ALICE about 10 minutes later
jonryan32@gmail.com 2 Posted May 28, 2012 I've had bags stay for a while, I've had bags disappear immediately upon being dropped.I'd say don't risk it.
blackdawn101 0 Posted May 28, 2012 If loot has been dropped (items) and is left alone, they seem to dissapear after awhile. i have confirmed this while cycling barracks.Bags however, i dont think do this
Serthure (DayZ) 5 Posted May 28, 2012 Well, thanks for the part of the dead players's bodies :PI also thank for players to try and answer my question, but I'm still reluctant in leaving my bag :o
Nightchill 0 Posted May 29, 2012 New player here, but earlier today I had died falling off a wall at Devil's Castle. Could be because one group member waited for me, but it took me an hour and a half to run from the coast to Devil's Castle. Maybe it was because my friend was waiting by my body, or the server was buggy, but it never despawned.Friends pulled most of my important gear off my body, but I was still able to get to my body and collect my pack, and other stuff still on my corpse. I confirmed this yesterday when I died from a severe fracture from crawling under a fir tree. Fortunately I knew the general location of where I'd died, and was able to recover my pack contents after an hour or so of searching. I had A LOT of good equipment so it was worth the attempt and paid off.
