billyangstadt 272 Posted May 28, 2012 The addition of the hatchet is awesome for those of us who like to live in the wilderness, now I was thinking, since it's possible for the engine to recognize we're in the forest to harvest wood, how about other sources of food/medicine.1.Berry Bushes: Can be harvested as an alternative food source, although may not completely satisfy hunger.2. Medicinal Roots/Plants: With the spread of infection there now, how about something that can mimic painkillers or antibiotics.Just throwing around some ideas, feel free to add your own. Bean (DayZ) 1 Posted May 28, 2012 I like this idea. I think it'd be cool, especially it you're one of the people that go out in the northwest, and try to get away from the zeds and other players, would be good to have some sort of way to cure disease up there. But, to make it more interesting, there could be berries, like in real life, that are poisonous, and could harm you, same with the roots and plants, could be weird form of poison ivy or something, just to addon to your suggestion. mr_sev 0 Posted May 28, 2012 This is a good idea. It would appeal to the 'live off the land' survivalists.Having said that, I would suggest there be some additional threats added to the wilderness to make things a little more difficult. For example - potential to encounter ticks through prolonged exposure to woods. There should be some things that can't be addressed (or only to a minimal degree) through natural remedies. Likewise there should be some status effects that are better treated through natural remedies. Something to make woodland survivalists head into cities, and city slickers head into the woods (or encourage trading between the two).
