Night on server = not for toddlers.

Recommended Posts

So, playing on my server at night...my 5 year old son usually watches me play (when it's day time on the server)...logged onto it during night...he asked "Why is it so dark, Daddy?"...I told him why...he then goes "You need a fwashwight."...I then remembered I had one.

Keep in mind, my location when I logged on, I was on the top floor of a building. I turn on my flashlight and look out the windows and spot a couple zombies. He proceeds to tell me "How scary it is in the dark."

I start my way down the stairs with the little spot of light provided by my flashlight. My son is staring at the screen at this point. On the second floor, I decide to throw a flare outside through the window. I continue on my way...I turn around the corner and a hopper's face peeks around the corner. My son shot back and screamed his way out of the room.

He comes back crying and I ask him why he's crying, "it's just a video game", I tried to explain to him. He then told me it wasn't because it was of the video game, it's because he shat himself.

Pro-tip to all the parents out there: Make sure your kids have an extra pair of clean underwear while playing.

or deceide not to play while the little one is watching. Keep in mind kids can be quite influenced by what they see regarding dreaming. Hell skip that not even kids i still get nightmares that include my boss yelling at me.

Still great tip there and a good story ^^

Lmfao!

That is to funny!

Only if you had it all on video, you'd have yourself one of those 1million view videos.

You could actually start a series of some sort of him watching or even playing. Well worth the read though!

Oh, he's quite aware of the zombie apocalypse scenario even before playing DayZ. He ALWAYS watches me play (and will even talk into the microphone to tell people that zombies are chasing me, lol!)

Only this time, it was his first night session!

What kind of parent are you if you aren't preparing your kids for the zombie apocalypse.

This guy by far is not a bad parent by any means for the people who think he is (Which clearly is only only 1-2 people in this post which is pretty cool). I have a 3 year old son. He plays battlefield 3 (which is also a M rated game) when hes bored and he will knife you and take your tags in an instant. He even plays on a seperate ps3 and talks to me on mic. The thing I put in his head though is "Its just a game" And he knows that. So to say "This post is full of face palms" Is idiotic. As long as your child grows up knowing what is right and wrong then its ok in my opinion. Honestly my son learned how to speak SO much better by talking on a mic with me and other people. Hes my little nerd and im proud which im sure all the other parents who's kids are into gaming like them. Loved the post man, cracked me up so im glad you shared. And yes i recommend the youtube videos. Ive thought about that with my 3 year old which im sure would get lots of hits lol. Hes nuts on a mic lol. So message me if any of you play it and feel like geeking with him =).

On the subject of children and mature rated games... I was playing Diablo (the original) when I was 9 years old. I knew the difference between a game and the real world (Due to a traumatizing childhood, I knew ALL too well).

I turned out just fine!

Very good lol

As Noob23 said, as long as you teach your kid right from wrong it is not a problem

God..in the late 70's and early 80's I was just a kid and my parents let me watch 18 movies etc with them . I was taught was was right, what was wrong and was aware of my limits of fear.

You watch any kids cartoon now and it is all violence etc. TV gets away with it because it links it to 'context'

P.S. My girlfriend's 5 year old niece plays GTA IV with me...she loves it! - the parents sit there and watch us play it. We all know what's right and whats wrong in life. We don't need to be nanny fed by regulators

It's no good for a child that age to watch DayZ. It is very likely that he'll have nightmares due to that.

I still have clear in my memory when, being a small child, decided to take a peek at what my parents were watching on TV, Salem's lot, a vampire miniseries, and when i opened the door a vampire boy was scratching a window from the outside asking a kid inside the house to let him in.

That's why i take these things seriously, i know they have a big influence in the minds of children.

I lol'd but I know I shouldn't. XD I'm guilty of letting my younger kids watch me play too. My almost 5 year old son will lean on my shoulder and chant "Kill it! Kill it!" at everything he sees. O_o And when I killed a cow, he said, "Why did you kill the cow? It was nice!" And I said, "So I can get meat from it and eat it." And it was like *click* for him. "You get meat from cows???" He'd never gotten it before, I guess... and we live on a farm!

Ok, I do see your point. Everyone has to realize that each kid is different though in how they look at things. Mine for example watches me play dayz all the time. He played black ops zombies, watches Scary movies, and he will sit and watch paranormal shows on tv for some reason.. not sure why. He still has no problem going into the other room when its dark. He says he cant see. But the last thing on his mind is some kind of "Monster" or "Zombie". As far as dreams go, If anything, my kid dreams about basketballs, rainbows and cupcakes. I guess my kid is just a boss like that lol. Idk. But i guess each kid is different i suppose. I just raised mine the way i was raised soo idk lol.

And @Cindy. My kid does the same thing lol! He also gets sooo mad when i kill a cow or any animal for some reason, until i tell him its a game and i have to eat because i have no other food. He understands which is a good thing in my opinion.

Doesn't sound like a troll to me. Sounds like a concerned gamer who is looking out for others.

I accidentally snuck in to a horror movie on TV that my parents were watching when I was a young child and during the movie I got extremely scared at one point and was so traumatized that I couldn't sleep in the dark for quite a while.

If his child was so scared that he excreted in his own pants then he must be quite easily frightened and may end up being traumatized himself.
