Kimiko (DayZ) 0 Posted May 28, 2012 Date/Time: 05/27/2012, 5:00pm PSTWhat happened: I have a female character and the speed appears to be half as fast as the male speed. When I run, it's about the same speed as crouching. When crouched, it's like I'm walking and then when I AM walking.. it's unbearably slow. I can't keep up with my boyfriend when he's running, so it makes it hard for us to play as a team.Where you were: Mostly in Novy SoborWhat you were doing: Surviving! Running through town, looking for items.*Current installed version: 1.6.0.1*Server(s) you were on: US Hardcore 2Thank you!
KungFuCharlie 0 Posted May 28, 2012 Me and my friend are having the same problem except I have the female skin with correct speed and he has the male skin with the slower speed problem. So I don't think this bug has anything to do with the character skin (again, I have the female skin that moves at the proper speed) but it is definitely a bug in something.I also want to add that this problem persists across respawn. He died last night and upon respawning this morning he is still moving very slow.Edit: Running version 1.6.0.1 on Dallas 7 server as of 12:29pm est. His profile name is Crisco (if that helps the devs any).
evloki 0 Posted May 28, 2012 How can I chame my skin to female?
Kimiko (DayZ) 0 Posted May 28, 2012 Well of course its slower' date=' you dont really have to be fast in kitchen ya know...[/quote']Real funny, smart guy :PAnd evloki: You can only change it when you first login to a server after installing the updates. Basically a one time thing. If you don't do it, when the message pops up, then you are SOL.Kungfu: Interesting that it was also happening to your friend's male skin. Just one of those bugs I suppose, but it's really tedious to be moving so slow, so hopefully it's something that can be resolved. To add more to my issue. I forgot to mention that due to moving so slow, I wasn't able to outrun the zombies, so they kept hitting me even at running full speed.
fsgt tyrsted[3/1] 0 Posted May 28, 2012 The more you have on you, Gear, food ect ect. will slow you down.
Patrickollo 3 Posted May 28, 2012 Are you having FPS problems? If your game is running slow, then you will run slow in game. I had this exact problem when I tried to play on my laptop. My two friends could run twice as fast as me even while I was double timing. I fixed the issue by just looking at the ground everywhere I ran until I needed to look up. Kimiko (DayZ) 0 Posted May 28, 2012 Jorgy: When I was a male character, I never had that problem. It was only when I switched to female.Patrick: Nope, I never had any problems really until I switched to a female.
Patrickollo 3 Posted May 29, 2012 How many times have you died since you've had this problem? You may want to suicide and see if any of the different female models have the same problem. Of course, dump your stuff somewhere safe or have your boyfriend pick it up (assuming you aren't carrying an arsenal). The only time I've experienced this problem is when having really bad frame rate.
Ashley129 0 Posted May 29, 2012 I never experienced the problem of running slow when switching to female. My problem is switching back to male after I died. :(
SystemiK 366 Posted June 24, 2012 EDIT If you are experiencing this movement speed bug, try playing in 3rd person view. We just discovered last night that my friend can sprint normally while in 3rd person, but when in 1st person he has the bug. If you are having this bug please test with 3rd person and report your results. EDITThis is not just happening with the female skin. A friend of mine has experienced this bug for about a month now (male skin). It has persisted through character deaths and even persists through a full game re-install. We have tested this and made sure we were both in the fully upright position and sprinting. I estimate he sprints all out at about 60% of my sprint speed maybe less. If I crouch run and he sprints all out, I would estimate that he is still at least 20% slower than me. If we both sprint for 40 or 50 seconds he becomes a speck off in the distance behind me. The only way we can really travel together is for me to crouch run while he does a full sprint. Even then I can still outrun him while I'm crouch running. One other strange detail is that his character animation appears to be doing that goofy "speed walking" thing that some people do for exercise. Looks very strange to watch.I've searched Arma2 forums for any mention of this type of bug and can find no mention of it. There is another thread in General about this issue where several other people also reported this problem, some had high spec PC's and several did not. It would seem that PC spec may possibly be related but in at least some cases high spec PC users have also reported experiencing this bug. The only way I can think of to test this "system spec" theory would be to under clock the processor and compare the time it takes to run a specific distance (such as running wall to wall between two specific buildings etc.) with both high and low processor clocks. The same testing could also be done using high/low graphic clocks. One thing that gives me reason to discount the "PC spec" theory is that there are thousands of people running this game on low spec PC's (possibly even tens of thousands), yet only a very small number of people are having this issue. If this bug was spec related I'd expect to see hundreds of bug reports of this type, both here and in the regular Arma2 forums.Quite a serious problem for some people as it takes them roughly twice as long to run to distant areas on the map as the rest of us. Fonziе 159 Posted June 24, 2012 The better your FPS, the faster you run. How do your and your friend's frames per second compare?
SystemiK 366 Posted June 24, 2012 The better your FPS' date=' the faster you run. How do your and your friend's frames per second compare?[/quote']As I pointed out above, this FPS theory has been brought up before, however there are thousands of people playing this game with low spec PC's. If a low spec PC was the cause of the issue, we should be seeing HUNDREDS of reports of slower player movement rather than just a handful. There has to be something more than PC spec causing this. (in the interest of being thourough, I will see if he would install fraps and check his FPS next time he plays the game).
dcskill 117 Posted June 24, 2012 My character is always faster than my friends when we run or crouch. What I've noticed was that you run faster with your primary out than with your secondary out.
SgtIzaya 0 Posted June 25, 2012 :L When I had the female skin I was faster than my friends with male skins. But as a male skin myself we were matched... XD
SystemiK 366 Posted June 25, 2012 My character is always faster than my friends when we run or crouch. What I've noticed was that you run faster with your primary out than with your secondary out.Yes this is true, it is possible to run faster with a rifle than a pistol out. However, most people reporting this bug seem to have considered the many variables (ie, crouch/upright, walk/sprint, weapon/no weapon, primary/secondary) when comparing the movement speed of two players. I believe this is a rare bug, not a failure of players to account for the various movement conditions present in the game engine.
dallas 5195 Posted June 25, 2012 Happened to me, seemed to be related to being unarmed and accidentally clicking aim, as Disgraced said above.
SystemiK 366 Posted June 25, 2012 Dallas, we are talking about people who have been playing the mod since release nearly 2 months ago. These people who have had this problem have NEVER been able to keep up with others. This is not an example of someone accidentally clicking aim or forgetting that they are crouch running.it's a bug. SystemiK 366 Posted June 25, 2012 Wait is it faster with primary or secondary? Two consecutive posts said the exact opposite things...My experience has been that you always run faster with a rifle equiped than a pistol. I think some people are just confused about which is primary and which is secondary.

Markedgun 15 Posted June 27, 2012 Hmm I was having the problem myself, and did not notice this. Me and my friends (4 of us) seem to have noticed that I am MUCH slower, I have a male character and 1 of my friends sticks with the female model, and we are aware of how weapons change speed sometimes (We decided to test with both primary and secondary weapons out and bla bla) so I would like to know how to fix this, because of this I am now vehicle security due to the fact that I can't keep up with everyone. SystemiK 366 Posted June 27, 2012 Never really thought about that. I wonder how many other lone wolf style players have this bug yet have never even noticed. At any rate, it seems very rare. This is my main concern. Being so rare may keep it from getting any attention from the devs.
