Fynmar 6 Posted August 11, 2012 (edited) How about a new tool? (Please dont beat me for bad english, german here)You all know the "problem" when you reload a half full magazine and than a second one, you have two half empty magazines. In reality you would be able to combine these two into one full and one that is empty and can be stored in you backpack or left behind. So how about:We can find a little bag where we can empty your magazines into. Also make magazines not disappear even if they are empty. If you happen to have one of said bag in your toolbelt, right click a magazine and tell it to "unload". Now you have a empty magazine and a partially filled ammo bag.Right clicking a mag you want to fill and choosing "load" will result in all rounds, of that type, getting loaded into that magazine, from your ammo bag. Lets say you have:-Ammo Bag with: 100x 9x19mm rounds-Magazines you can fill with that:4x MP5 (one has only 10 rounds),4x PDW (one has only 10),7x M9 (one with 10)or6x G17 (one has 15)Give that bag like 100 slots for rounds only. (That number can of course be changed to any number you can imagine.)-high caliber use 3 slots (M107, AS-50)-mid caliber 2 slots (AK, STANAG, pellets, slugs)-low caliber 1 slot (9mm)Maybe you say this is OP, but please think about the concept not the numbers. In real life you would put ammo you find in every bag or hole you have on you, because it will become rare. And since the ammo replenish bug has been fixed ammo starts to be rare finally. This idea might not be able in the current mod version but maybe later in a stand alone. Eazy-Makaveli 33 Posted August 11, 2012 it would be a good idea to combine mags, i hate having 4 mags with 5-10 bullets in each.but it would alo be weird to find x2 bullets and you can put those 2 in a mag opposed to where you can easily find 3 full mags with an ak on the ground.+ another good addition to your suggestion would be to make it possible to throw away that mag with only 1 bullet without having to throw away all your other 3 mags and then pick up only the 3 full mags. but then if you find bullets that go in that mag, you wish you kept it. i think it would add a little more depth to inventory management but without it being boring because its not a lame task but a choice to keep the empty mag or drop it for space.+
Charb 298 Posted August 11, 2012 clips need to be capable of "unloading" and "reloading" no different than a water bottle.in my opinion you should be able to only fire "loaded" ammunition. so if i want to walk around with a stack of 50 AK rounds unloaded compared to 30 in a mag I should be able to do that. it would just be a downfall because I would have to load that clip and it would take time.with this system we could also add rare larger clips, we of course need the magic bullet system to go away with this next patch so see how much of a demand ammo is because I don't think the average player can survive.instead of finding a giant FN bag of ammo we should just be able to hoard our own piles. the piles being dependant on the weapon. stanag/ak rounds etc... stacking up to 50, shotgun stacking up to 15, pistol rounds up to 25, steel bolts stacking to 5 etc.. etc..I just don't understand how any of our fantastic ideas are ever going to make it to standalone, I mean the ammo system currently is trash, are they aware of this? do people that count even read the forums? DayZPvP.com 143 Posted August 11, 2012 (edited) The ammo system does need work. I am find with just a recombine button - no tool needed. It should take time though, like how it takes a while for the cooking animation. Basically do the same thing, hit recombine, drop your gun on the ground, swing your arms around and your mags are automagically full, the empty mags go away. jackogara 5 Posted August 11, 2012 Good idea but this would need to take time for the player to do. So not instant like changing M24 to DMR..

But what if you have two STANAG with 16 bullets? Also a system in which every single bullet counts is more fun. Instead of finding full M249 magazines in a deer stand it would be more realistic to find all kind of single rounds in lower amounts. Dont you think?
Eazy-Makaveli 33 Posted August 11, 2012 another must is that you should be able to choose which mag you use so you dont end up with 5 mags with 5-6 bullets each

Finding the full mags is just fine (standalone could do what you said though). In my mind, if you have 2 Stanag with 16 rounds each, you recombine (takes about 10-20 seconds) and then you have a mag of 30 and a mag with 2 rounds. So simple.
