Kuroi (DayZ)

You get hungry/thirsty even when offline?

Recommended Posts

I find it to be a stupid feature and can u die from wit while being offline or will you just stay on really low food and water until you come back on and then have seconds to find something to eat and drink?

you wont die from it, but you can die if you log out with no food or water, and log in too far away from any resources.

get a knife, and keep lots of meat. and a few water bottles

Your blood depletes at a very slow rate even with both food and water blinking. Make sure to always log off with food and water and it should never be an issue.

Yes and yes' date=' as far as I'm aware. How's Mortal doin? :P

if it's real then it's really stupid imho, what if i have to log out quickly but i have no water/food when i relog? -.-

mortal is doing as always, just "living" for now :D let's hope in Awakening expansion

so when you can't login for a long time (holidays etc) you must accept that you're already dead? LOL

even if you don't die by it when offline, it's silly, i can't always have food/water when i log out, especially if i have to log out all of sudden

DayZ is running in real time. 24 hour day. Even if you are offline for 2 days you will NOT die but spawn with food/drink symbols flashing. Every survivor with at least some brains in him has at least 1 can of food and 1 drink, I do it like that and additionally have meat with me for blood restoration.

No problem and absolutely not a game breaker.

One can of food and one drink? Man, I guess I'm paranoid about running out... I always try to keep 2 canteens and four cans of food on me at all times, plus extra soda cans if I have spare slots in my backpack.

Looks to me like the great "they" are trying to force more player interaction.... which, I don't get really. I mean, ZOOOOOOOOOMbies right? Do we not have a zillion other point and click PvP avenues available?

I can see this as reasonable, but what I don't understand is, while your hunger and thirst may be flashing when you log back in, will your blood decrease while you are logged out?

I travel for work and being unable to log in for maybe a week at a time would make this instant death for my character unless blood is not lost while logged out.

no problem if you have no life maybe, i often have to log out quickly if someone calls me or i have to go somewhere for important stuff, and there are no supermarkets all around, if i'm in the middle of a forest with no supplies and have to log out, why do i have to be disvantaged?

i really hope Rocket will remove the offline starving

I realy like the offline starving, and its not like a emergency bottle for water and a can of beans take up massive amounts of inventory space.

If the worst case scenario happens, you can just hava a friend run to where you logged out with some refreshments before you login. Though the realism of that is kinda ermm.

You are not alone. I, too, tend to place more food and water when I found a better backpack.

Well, actually cans of food and water ARE everywhere. It is the most common loot I guess, I always have at least 2 food items and 2 bottles of water on me, and stock more if I'll be heading for a long trip thru woods. Not that hard really

I carry multiple steaks and canteens with me at all times too in case I run out... but I expect to run out when I'm doing long cross-country treks, not when I'm sleeping/working/having a life. Even though it's not a huge problem for me, I think it's a horrible feature. It's a waste of food and drink that you shouldn't really have to use.

If your character didn't disappear when you logged out but stayed there on the spot it would make more sense, but that would suck

I know it's not meant to be 'casual' and it's meant to be 'realistic', but every game has to draw a line between realism and fun
