omgwtfbbq (DayZ) 1069 Posted August 10, 2012 (edited) After seeing http://dayzmod.com/f...bat-preference/, and seeing how many people are choosing the "I shoot whatever's on the end of my scope" option, here's another thing I don't understand about this community:If you want to kill people in intense firefights, why not just play ArmA II? You already bought it. Just filter what server mission you want. ArmA II has intense firefights, and everbody will give you resistance; which I guess is more interesting than shooting someone who does nothing but look at you because they don't have a weapon.(No, I wasn't killed by anything. But I am constantly reading the forums and sometimes throw in my 2¢ about the things people do. Why so many topics about it? What else is there to talk about? Complain about hackers? Complain about glitches? Talk about pwning n00bs in Cherno? I'd rather talk about something that ISN'T fixable in an update. More interesting.)So there you have it. All I'm saying is if you want to kill people, why not play vanilla ArmA II? Edited August 13, 2012 by omgwtfbbq

dilorenzovictor@gmail.com 36 Posted August 10, 2012 I actually tried this, but things got really weird when I wound up on some kind of RPG server in the middle of a bank robbery...

SillySil 295 Posted August 10, 2012 You seem to think that FFA DM is not the gamemode of dayz in the current state.Sorry to dissapoint but like I said in the other thread. PvE is of no challenge or reward. And killing people is the best way of gearing up which is one of the main things you have to do in this game. Also the best way of avoiding getting shot.

sixbarns 217 Posted August 11, 2012 The game is much better outside of Cherno and Elektro but the hackers are killing that with their cowardice.
dagon (DayZ) 17 Posted August 11, 2012 (edited) Freeside traders, I have met some Medics asked for there help. In three months of playing i have killed 2 people out of fear. not to mention hundreds of encounters in the wilds of chenarus. I have been shot by four players. most of my actions are watching and waiting. Edited August 11, 2012 by dagon
dagon (DayZ) 17 Posted August 11, 2012 the point I am making is to counter this mentality You seem to think that FFA DM is not the gamemode of dayz in the current state.
j_riddell@live.com 32 Posted August 11, 2012 Killing people =/= meeting peopleThat's an incorrect assumption. You assume just because he's killed people, he also doesn't meet people. Please provide some empirical evidence that suggests that if you kill people, you also can not meet people and group up with them.Sandbox game. Play it how you want, end of story. Sephka (DayZ) 51 Posted August 11, 2012 The problem with this thinking is that combat in ArmA II is not nearly as intense as it is in DayZ. When persistent characters and permanent death aren't a part of the equation, it becomes very similar to other shooters we've played, if only more drawn out and on a larger scale. When your group suddenly starts getting shot at, things get really fucking intense really fast. You start worrying about losing your 24 day survivor and all the experiences he's been through. You actually CARE whether you live or die. Playing ArmA II would most likely not give this same feeling. You were saying in another thread how you didn't like people telling you how to play the game, "You need kills to have fun bawwwww" well it goes both ways. Some people just enjoy it that way. Let them play the game their way, that's the whole point of a sandbox.
sostronk 334 Posted August 11, 2012 You seem to think that FFA DM is not the gamemode of dayz in the current state.Sorry to dissapoint but like I said in the other thread. PvE is of no challenge or reward. And killing people is the best way of gearing up which is one of the main things you have to do in this game. Also the best way of avoiding getting shot.Whilst this is true, most of the killing is going on in coastal towns, where the majority of players have hardly any gear. I can understand killing someone for loot if your at staryoe, Zelengorsk, Dubrovka or at least somewhere remotely inland because these players will actually often have gear that is worth taking. The reality is alot of people just want FFA DM. They don't want to play PvE and there isn't much of a challenge in PvE right now. The balance and content is well in favor of PvP and its up to the developers to address this issue. It needs to cater for players like myself who want to be patient and play PvE predominantly and have occasional PvP fights.
SillySil 295 Posted August 11, 2012 People go to cherno or electro to fight each other. If you don't want to fight you shouldn't be there.
cfnz 15 Posted August 11, 2012 Sandbox game. Play it how you want, end of story. It's not necessarily quite as straightforward as that. The whole kill on sight policy that people have mentioned they've adopted suggests that other play-styles can dictate to some degree how the game is played. Inception. 9443 Posted August 11, 2012 There was an idea if the other is of no certain threat to one, then one shall not lay fire upon the other. That idea has been crushed to a state that is almost irreversible at this point in time. Pity. I hope things change when DayZ becomes standalone.

SillySil 295 Posted August 12, 2012 What did they learn? How to be an asshole?Like I said numerous times. They have learned that if you kill someone first they can't kill you. And that taking someone's stuff is the fastest way of gearing up.
