US 790 Seeks Clans, Squads and Fire Teams

Recommended Posts

Do you prefer playing on a Veteran server with a maximum allowed ping setting, and don’t abort, alt-F4 or combat log during PVP?  Are you looking for a fresh start to the game, along with protection against hacking?  If so, then please consider making US 790 your sole DayZ server.  Clans are encourage to join, as are groups of friends who consider themselves a squad or fire team and just want to enjoy the game as it was intended.

There will be server wide events each weekend.  Sometimes it will be straight-up team deathmatch (no respawns permitted) and sometimes there will be an objective involved with respawns permitted.  During these events, the server will be password-protected, so that hackers can not ruin the fun!  After the event has ended, the server will be re-opened to the public.

This is really my last attempt to try and deal with the hacking and provide a place for players to enjoy the game.  If I don’t get enough commitment by the end of August, then I will shut the server down permanently and just wait for the standalone game to continue any serious DayZ play.

However, if I do get enough commitment, then on Friday, August 31st, we will have a server wide event to find all vehicles, strip them of gear, save them, and destroy them.  On Sept 1st, at a pre-designated time, we will all gather in game for the sole purpose of mass suicide.  Once everyone is dead and waiting in the lobby, I will restart the server, and it shall begin anew!  We will agree to not place tents, not put any gear on vehicles, not dup gear, not play on other servers, not take gear from public players not involved in the events, not make use of other account(s) to gain a gear advantage, and not use hacks of any type.  I could be wrong, but I believe there are clans, squads and fire teams out there who want to play the game like this.

If your clan, squad or fire team is interested, please contact me by private message on these forums and specify the number of players in your group, along with your normal play time(s) in terms of Eastern Standard Time.

There are unfortunately two US 790 servers and HFB servers has been unsuccessful in correcting this on numerous occasions.  My server is the one hosted by Gangrene, has a veteran designation, and is located in North Carolina.  There is a maximum ping allowed of 200.

Thank you!

I'll stop by today.... >8)

LOL, I can only infer from those eyebrows that, well, some means of destruction await me and/or my server. As I'm close to twice your stated age of 27 on your profile, let me assure you there are much more rewarding things to do with your time. But I'm guessing you already know that and made your choice anyway.

In the words of Albert Einstein, "If I had known they were going to do this, I would have become a shoemaker." and in this case not a server admin.

Well thanks for the bump anyway.

Well, it goes without saying, but I'm in.

Hopefully there are other groups/friends/clans which are interested. It's just a damn shame that hacking has brought this mod to the point of having to lock a server.

I disagree. I think server admins giving up because there's hackers is like firefighters giving up because there's a fire. DayZ needs attentive admins to show hackers that crime doesn't pay.

I don't understand why you're suggesting no tents and no vehicles though? I definitely don't want to play like that, but I do like playing in a squad and obviously won't stand for duping, logging, or hacking.

Vehicles can be used for travel, but no gear is to be stored on them. I'm trying to keep the playing field as even as possible and not rewards groups that play more often durng the week and therefore can stock pile the gear for the weekend events. Personally, I wish DayZ would take away tents and storage of gear in vehicles. With the duping as it exists today, the threat of death is significantly diminished as players can simply run to their vehicle(s) and be fully geared without having to visit Starry, the NW airfield, deerstands, and downed choppers. Forcing people to visit these areas to re-gear means more PVP opportunities. At the moment, most "PVP" occurs from a sniping position 700+ meters away.

Not much server admins can do today given the lack of tools and information. All admins have is a bucket of water against a raging fire. Would be great to know who kills who. Also, if admins could actually know the location of players on the server, with like a 10-20 minute delay so the information doesn't get abused. Would be really nice to know a player was at the NW airfield and ten seconds later was at Cherno for sake of example.

That makes sense. Still, the game would lose something big if there were no tents. I enjoy having a home base to go back to, and the time I spend scouting new tent locations. I'd be happy if it were restricted to 1 tent per person, and maybe half as much storage capacity.

Make sure that the developers are aware of your suggestions, especially the location tracking one. Sounds pretty good to me.

As of the current patch (1.7.2.5), there is no gear saving in tents, so anything placed in tents is only good until a server reset. With this in mind, I'm good with tents.

So you can have a tent and put extra gear in it, but as soon as there's a server reset the tent is completely empty again? That doesn't seem right (fair), at least as it stands now with servers needing to be reset quite often. I'd be happy if they'd quit "restocking" after resets... but to be wiped out... what purpose would tents serve?

Most of the server resets aren't initiated by me... it is either HFB Servers or the work of a direct hack or the game not knowing what to do with a hacked script and therefore the server/game locks up. I will always give advance warning about a server reset. So if you don't see and message in game, someone else caused ther reset.

I keep seeing conflicting reports about vehicles and tents. Some say they save while others say they don't. If by chance DayZ is intending to not allow tent and vehicke saves, I can only speculate it is to take away the duping of gear and force players to actually hit the hot spots to re-aquire gear.

This sounds interesting to participate in, but why not just make everyone in the server meet in Cherno or Electro to verify no one has gear before starting the event?

My group would probably like to be involved in this event but most of us play all week long. Your asking people who love the game not to play it, that to me makes little sense.

How about you ask that players who wish to participate must all respawn in cherno? Have a designated time and safe zone where all players on the server must meet prior to starting the event to verify nub status. Then restart the server and let the teams leave from said safe point.

Sorry, I guess I need to do a better job explaining. The events will be on the weekend. During the week, you can continue to play the game. I however would like groups to commit to US 790 play only. This. It only promotes an active server, but also forms a level of accountability to help identify hacking during the week when the server is open to the public.

Also, while you can find and use vehicles for travel, you would nned to agree to not use the vehiclles to store gear, as it is a source of duping that allows one set of gear to outfit an entire squad with server resets during the week.

Sorry for typos in previous post... I not a fan of the iPhone for posting on forums. Per your suggestion about a meeting place to confirm gear, it is unnecessary. If I can't trust players to honor the rules, such as no gear in vehicles, having everyone show up at one place for a gear check will not have any additional benefit. Plus, the event is about playing against other groups on the server. So it is best for each group to maintain its own starting point Makes sense?
