HanoverFist 64 Posted August 10, 2012 (edited) alt then tab, keep tabbing to select the right program instead of clicking with your mouse. Edited August 10, 2012 by HanoverFist
Cheese_omg 8 Posted August 10, 2012 Just reload the game I would assume that would fix the error (works with 99% of most other games).
CerebralZombie (DayZ) 151 Posted August 10, 2012 Yeah I was going to say just alt+tab, but who knows if it's still auto-fire...
stockishgsr 2 Posted August 10, 2012 alt+tab instead of clicking with your mouse.Basically this, if you click on the taskbar it registers as a fire in the game causing that to happen. No real way around outside of what I quoted.
mac 80 Posted August 10, 2012 (edited) Tips from a long time Arma player:press escape to open menu then alt tabopen your map then alt tabopen your gear menu then alt tab Edited August 10, 2012 by MacEwan
Zeromentor 169 Posted August 10, 2012 Yep, hit ESC before you tab out otherwise you risk the chance of ALT locking the next button you hit (in the menu, you'll sometimes see ALT lock TAB and you'll be quick scrolling through the menu). Also, make sure you tab out with your weapon on semi-auto.
tarin4med@gmail.com 10 Posted August 10, 2012 Run it in windowed mode. Also you can back out of any menu by hitting ESC. So after you pull up the Gear menu or the ESC menu, click back on the menu somewhere and then escape out.I have seen this happen to streamers but I have never had it happen to me, probably because I have been playing in windowed mode.Alt-Enter is the shortcut for windowed mode. It took me a few tries to get it but eventually i did. I think I had to streatch the window after I windowed it too, but I forget now.
Dancing.Russian.Man 1631 Posted August 10, 2012 (edited) Press escape to open menu, then alt-tab.Open your map, then alt-tab.Open your gear menu, then alt-tab.This.I had the auto-fire problem once, and ever since I've "paused" the game before alt-tabbing. Sephka (DayZ) 51 Posted August 10, 2012 If this happens to you all you have to do is left click to get rid of it.Funny story. I had a friend who had alt tabbed out or ctrl alt del, whatever. He comes back in and fires off few shots from his machine gun and starts running. I ask him why he fired, said he alt tabbed. He keeps running trying to find his precious, precious motorbike. He finally spots it in it's hiding spot and runs up to it. As soon as he stops running he unloads like 50 bullets into it. Funniest thing I've ever seen in DayZ. motocross 49 Posted August 10, 2012 Happend with my lee enfield but it got stuck, so bulelt kept landing next to me... I shit myself for 7 whole bullets until I realized
sixbarns 217 Posted August 10, 2012 Tap ctrl twice before alt-tabbing out. You can also hit escape, g, or any other command that will prevent you from firing.
KeyaKev 12 Posted August 10, 2012 I open up my gear or press ESC prior to alt tabbing so that doesn't happen.
bankst3r 45 Posted August 10, 2012 OMG, thanks! That's what I was looking for but didn't know how to even phrase it on google. Accidentally firing a gun happened only once or twice but the Alt locking was really a pain in the ass and always forced me to disconnect and rejoin.
