Steppwolf 97 Posted August 9, 2012 I am a little conflicted by this idea myself but i think it could work and should fit in dayz if you don't take it overboard. So here is my humble little suggestion: So first of all i was thinking of adding some kind of notes in certain spawn areas and they would tell you where you can find stuff. -Add some kind of map markers/tresure maps who can spawn at random in different loot areas (on a rare occasion).-Make this map markers show four different kinds of locations: Dig sites (you need a shovel)-Caves (we need those caves :D) -Randomly spawned chests (or corpses for more realism)-Abadoned camps (tents, burnt out fireplaces)All of the above will give loot and can be looted by others without a map marker with a little luck. This would give a tresure hunter feeling and who dosen't love that? This is more of a suggestion for the stand-alone (need bigger map)So what do you think of the basic concept? Steppwolf 97 Posted August 9, 2012 Why? It's not quests in that sence it is just notes for minor loot spawns... It would not really deprive the elements of realism/survival...
liquidcactus 719 Posted August 9, 2012 Prepare to be flamed...haha.. what this guy said.. I see what you mean i really do but i think you may need more detail because the treasure hunting idea is kind of already there.. I mean what else is there to do other then try to find loot in the first place ?The ideas you suggested kind of alreay exist ! except the random dead body/chest loot isnt random ! when players die their corpse stays spawned for hrs on end with loot :DThere already is camps you can stumble upon they are just super hard to find :P
Louis13245 29 Posted August 9, 2012 No, its a good idea. They don't have to be generated at all. Say theres an are with 3 high-end loot spots instead of 2. That note could give a clue to the permenant location of those loot spots. Say a note said that the airforce was receiving a rather large amount of weaponry, to the point where they had to start stashing it in the local firestation. They don't have to be quests. They could just be little pieces of info that flesh out the backstory a tad bit more.
Steppwolf 97 Posted August 9, 2012 Yea that is kind of what i meant. Like a little note with a backstory from a survivor where he stashed his stuff from a zombie attack etc :)

wtfosaurus 30 Posted August 9, 2012 what you are asking for is more diverse loot spawns essentially, not related to 'quests' imho...
Steppwolf 97 Posted August 9, 2012 (edited) Yeswhat you are asking for is more diverse loot spawns essentially, not related to 'quests' imho...Yes! Or as i would put it, "Quests in a non lame way... :PBut yea a system for finding stuff that spawns random like heli crashes but with maps to find them or just markers gps grids etc. Edited August 9, 2012 by Steppwolf
