Linked GPS'?

Hey Guys,

Recently I found a GPS and I am using it in conjunction with a map to navigate my way around.

I can see myself on the map but, one day I saw another blip on the map.

My location is listed as 'sniper' I think because I either have a sniper or because I have a gillie suit.

But not 300m away was another blip that said 'sniper' as well.

Do people with gps' see your gps blip and can you see theirs?

Or was this just some kind of glitch?

Because I now know that maps are linked to eachother regardless of who has them.

Recruit and Regular difficulty servers have a lot of assists for players. I don't know if this would be part of that though. I typically play on vet servers and you do not see yourself on the map at all, GPS or not.

I believe it depends on the server settings. I recently checked a map and realised that it was marking my position on it, with footprints labelled "man", but it doesn't seem to be like that on every server.

I was just thinking if I just so happened to be on a server with a guy with a gps as well and he knows where I am (because I play on random servers, depending on ping and number of players), maybe I should leave my gps in my backpack till I need it. So he can't see me.

I believe if you get LOS on someone, it'll mark their position on your map too... If you go near a town, you'll notice zombies last known position also visible on your map a lot of the time....
