stripes 92 Posted August 8, 2012 So following on from another anti-cheat thread here where it was suggested an admin be allowed to set up a server & 'vet' people that wish to play on it, I was wondering: How many people would be willing to pay to play on a hacker-free server?Of course it would be impossible to 100% guarantee that the server would never be hacked, BUT the admin 'vetting' process would preclude a lot of script kiddies and I was thinking additionally the server could be made 'pay-to-play' (perhaps a small monthly fee). This would add a further deterrence to hackers who would very unlikely be willing to pay for a hack script AND a monthly fee, only to be ultimately banned. Now as it stands, I'm not even sure this arrangement would be allowed by BI under the current rules, but lets say they changed their policy and were to allow this - how many people here would be interested? redfield-77 315 Posted August 8, 2012 I am going to wait to see how stand alone works. BE has been banning all day and its raining tears. Maybe BE got its shit together finally or they just changed the detection parameters. Still Im not sure I would like playing with the same folks all the time. It's better to murder anons. Maroite 48 Posted August 8, 2012 As someone who might start paying money to host their own server, I'd want my server hacker free regardless of whether other players are paying me or not. Also, isn't it BattleEye's job to keep hackers out? ... I mean if BattleEye isn't looking out for cheaters/scripters/hackers then what IS BattleEye doing besides being a waste of space/resources?
icomrade 201 Posted August 8, 2012 You cannot charge for people to play on your server as you do not own the application or with hold rights to monetize the free A2Server. You will never be able to lock players out or allow them in by guid.
blake_synel 11 Posted August 8, 2012 I find it sort of redundant. Realistically when you purchase a server you get it with the intent (hopefully) that hackers will be deterred by the in-game anti-cheat mechanisms. It shouldn't be on the community to deal with that and be, essentially, punished for playing legitimately by having to pay more.Though I appreciate the constructive input as a means of expressing the irritation felt by the community in dealing with the widespread hacking. Stings2pee 106 Posted August 8, 2012 I think people would sooner buy hacks themselves ($15?) to be immune to OTHER hackers versus paying a $5/month subscription for a server that's supposedly 'hacker free'.

stripes 92 Posted August 8, 2012 Just to clarify, I don't actually rent or admin any servers. I'm simply throwing the idea out there.
