Re-installing Steam/Arma 2. Will profile save?

Well, im finally replacing my hard drive which has been slowly failing for the past few months and am just curious as to what I've got to do to keep my Arma 2/DayZ character profiles. Anything specific like copying a certain directory to my external HD?

Your DayZ character is saved at the hive server and linked to your CD key, so as long as you use the same CD key you'll have the same character.
