US 1637 Is NOT Shutting Down (Update)

I am the admin for 1637. I created the server so all my friends and I have a single server that we can all play on and not have to worry about the server being outdated, restarted, shutdown. I've had the server for about two weeks, but recently this hacking situation has gotten out of hand. The past two days I haven't been able to play on it because of hackers. If I ban everybody that I see on my server as a regular then my server will get shut down. If I lock the server so just my friends and I can play.... my server will be shut down. Or if I password protect it guess what... my server will be shut down. With the DayZ team now working on the standalone that means that they probably don't really care about the hacking situation in the current mod, and I sure as hell will not pay extra money out of my pocket to just keep losing all my stuff. Therefore I will shut my server down, and just play on others servers. I am sorry if any of you have camps or anything on my server, but this is just plain ridiculous. I am not somebody that complains normally and I am a very patient person, however this is just out of hand. Once again I apologize. Any questions/comments/concerns please post them here. Thank you.

UPDATE: As of now I have decided to continue my server. It no longer will shutdown at the end of this month. A few donations from some of the server regulars convinced me not to shut it down. I am looking forward to seeing more people on now. Take care!

Sorry about your luck man. It's nice to see such professional admin. You should be able to lock your server imo. If we can't have the tools to form a community in game, at least give us the ability out of game to protect our investment of time.

That's indeed unfortunate. I used to play there quite often. Hope you can bring us back a server as good as this when things under control.

Can't say I blame ya. We're probably doing the same thing.

We plan to set a note for players to see that the server will only be up a little while longer (so they can move camp to another server) and then bring it down. Sucks to lose vehicles and have to relocate gear, but yea.

If it's not insta-killing everyone on the server / nuking it, it's OK for me.

Hackers may live, as long as they have no skill and good gear. And also if they don't use hacks to wipe out servers.

I don't think it has anything to do with a lack of caring or that there is a standalone coming.

The reality of the situation regarding hacking is that there is very little that can be done about it due to the engine. The engine was designed to be very modable (hence one of the reasons why even have this mod) and the way they went about it unforunately easily allows it to be hacked. Battleye can detect the hacks that are distributed to the masses but there are plenty of hackers out there writing their own which are left undetected. Sadly the only way to really solve this would be a major change to the engine.

In the mean time we're all kind of screwed and it sucks. I just hope bohemia has made the changes needed.

Haha yes, I read that eariler. Pretty awesome, but not enough for me to keep spending my money. I'll still play, but not at the expense of me paying for a server.

Also I plan on leaving the server up until the end of the month, since I already paid up until the 30th so that will give people enough time to transfer all the items off the server. I know my group has a few vehicles so maybe the last day or two I can setup a fun little last-day hoorah thing. I'll keep this thread updated for anything new.

I was just being a smart ass man, I completely understand what you are going through. It sucks, and I understand why you are doing what you are doing. I am not an admin but haven been one in the past in other games I try to put my two cents in whenever I can, objective as possible. You may want to consider a private server. My group has talked about getting a server for themselves - which I'm against.

I wonder how interested they'd all be in also joining up with a private server as well? Pooled together, the costs amongst a few groups for one private server off of one machine would be minimal, and with the hacks being as bad as we all realize they are (I am teleported once every 24 hours from random servers, usually to my death) this seems the only route the current DayZ mod can go. I don't believe what we're doing is Alpha or Beta testing anymore since we all know the problems and nuances of the limitations of the current mod.

My servers DE 1380 and DE 1284 are going down the same deadend road. Lasted a week.

I'm leaving DayZ alltogether, hopefully there will be a first person game of that magnitude with more RPG in it some day.

Let's face it.. The patches are getting slower and the community is starting to feel ignored. Server admins aren't getting much help and the admin community doesn't really want to share what is specificly workign for them.. I own a server and am thinking it is fine time to turn it off also. I mean the Hive isn't working.. Tents.. not.. Cars vanish.. etc etc..

Question...so I've made your server my Home, along with a few friends. With several camps throughout, as I really like the whole...scavenging thing! I really like it! I was wondering if you are still maintaining your server? As it seems to be...down, right now.

I would also like to share, that I too have made this server my home with many friends. We love it and are sad to see it down. I would love to donate to help revive 1637, it was one of the best, hacker free servers out there.
