The Best Start Ever!

Time/Date: 2:32 AM EST // 8/6/2012 (Server was in Night Mode)

Sever: Has goodwrench in the name.

So about an hour before my friend and i ended up being killed by a hacker in the Western woods near the NW airfield. We were prone in some undergrowth, in ghillie suits, we heard 2 shots one for him and one for me and we died. :( oh wellz.

Anyway i Respawned on a new server and ended up on the west side of cherno, I decided to do a loot run starting from the market --> Firestation --> Residential buildings --> Church. However when i first came to the market everything seemed to be looted so i knew there had been someone within 10 minutes there. When i started to come out the back entrance of the market i saw a road flare go up at the Firestation. I didn't have any weapons so i decided to go balls deep. I began to crouch run towards the station when i saw someone come out with a lee einfield, i shouted "Friendly" and he said "Okay, thats cool". I asked him if he was the one who lit the road flare and he said yes.

As i started running away, i noticed he was going to the market so i told over voice that someone had already been there and to watch out. Considering he didn't KoS, i decided to help him out with that tip. However as i was running away past the wall leading to a residential building i turned around to see him take a shot, i sprinted into the building and lucky enough there was a 1911 45 colt in there, i grabbed the hand cannon and the 2 mags, quickly reloaded and went out the back entrance. I started flanking his last known position and came around the front of the market, thinking he would still be in there i charged in.

As i was entering i looked into the back right corner closest to the windows, and with my gamma turned up i saw the fringes of a ghillie suit, I actually gasped in real life, he must've panicked too because he took a shot at me with a m107 and missed, I Unloaded 5 Shots into him and watched him drop, I saw a kill confirm on the bottom left and i thought i was good! All of a sudden i hear an AKM go off from the back of the store, and someone hits me and drops me to 8k. I instantly run behind cover and reload and look for him, I see him the back right corner and he starts popping off shots from behind the Stall in the back of the market.

I take about 20 seconds to collect myself and figure out how to deal with someone with a fully automatic while i had a 1911 with only 9 bullets left. (The 1911 i picked up only had 2 mags with it).

All of a sudden he stops firing, and everything goes silent. I figure he might've d/c'd so i peek to the right and immediately he fires off 2 shots, good thing it was dark as shit because he missed a perfect opportunity to kill me. Once again we're at a standstill, i'm getting super twitchy because zombies are slowly starting to swarm the building and if anyone was within a 500 meter radius of the store they would've heard the first shot.

I figure i might as well go all out and i stand up to unload my .45 bullets of carnage at the mother fucker, when i realize i can't see him anymore. Once again i figure maybe he pussied out and actually left the server, however a 2nd look around the back and i noticed something, in between the 2 stalls at the back, apparently you can actually see through it and i saw him prone going closer to his friends body.

Here's what it looked like:

There was no way i was going to let him pick up that m107 so i unloaded into that crack, but i didn't see a kill confirm on the bottom left. I figure i missed, and reloaded back to my first mag with the 2 bullets in it. I see no movement, so i rush towards the back. Lo and behold the asshat is unconscious so i pop the last of my 2 bullets into his fucking face and breathe a sigh of relief,

All of a sudden i hear 2 really fucking loud shots, from the north of the market towards the hill. The windows shatter as i prone instantly and go still. I switch to third person in order to see out the window while prone, i then realize i have no gun so i frantically try to get the damn inventory system to work on the dead bodies. The Bandit #2 had an AKM with 7 rounds left so i said fuck it, i move up to the first guy in the ghillie i killed, and guess what! I find his M107 with 5 mags, NVG AND Rangefinders. I quickly equip the NVG and m107 and stick myself to the back left corner.

About 2 minutes later, i see movement. I peek through the windows and see a guy in a ghillle suit run past the house to the north west of the market.

He Proned his way to the final position, i took the kill shot when he actually crouched to also take a shot at me. I actually ended up waiting a good 5 minutes before daring to move outside to check his body.

After hiding all their bodies and picking up what i could i ended up with, m107 w/ 5 rounds, m4a1 Holo w/ 4 stanag mags + m203 he + Flash grenades, m9 SD with 2 clips, Coyote Backpack (24 slot one), Rangefinders, NVG, GPS, full range of necessities and medical supplies!

That was the most epic start i've ever had in a life in DayZ.

Nice work OP good comeback from a hacking experience. It sounded pretty epic.

Who doesn't do the gamma exploit, you'd be stupid not to. If you're on a night server everyone does it or they have NVG.
