desolate beach - nothing in any direction - where am I ?

Newbie here

I keep spawning on this desolate beach...I have run to the left for hours, to the right for hours, inland up hils towards the mountains for hours...

nothing

nothing

and more

nothingness

.........where the heck AM I spawining to ?

It tells you when you spawn in bottom right, running in either direction should lead to either a town or the end of the map. Have you looked on a map? dayzdb.com It's not possible you ran in both directions following the coast for hours and not either end up off the map (no trees/grass/etc) or a town. Walking a few metres inland almost always leads to a road.

Re-log and follow smasht_AU's suggestion.

Once you have done so use this website as a reference guide http://dayzdb.com/map

Then find a map & a compass and you're set!

Then again, if you consider this map cheating... well, then you'll need to use road signs and landmarks to find a town which will hopefully contain a map.

I have found that the road signs do not match the in-game map though, which is kind of BS.

First you need a map http://dayzdb.com/map#2.074.099

When you first log in it will tell you where you are in the lower right corner of the screen, take not because it only shows briefly.

Clouds in Dayz always move towards the east.

When you do finally find a town read a road sign and use it to find your position on the map.

ok, when I spawn it says Cherna Wilderness.....so where on the map is that ?

update....ran to the left , from facing the sea, and finally now I see some forest and a road or airport runway....!!
