Change name for player

Why can not I change the name for the standard player, or remove it? As yet it is done?

The default name is the name of your profile from your OS and cannot be changed, create a new one if you want a new nic :)

I changed my nickname to the OS, but Day Z he still does not change. How do I change it? Create a new will not. The principles are = ((They are very irritating to me)

Your second post makes no sense, as far as I can tell there is a way to do it but I have no idea on how to do it, I've heard other people doing it by double clicking the name while editing but that does not work for me. You can just make a new profile, all it really does is use default settings for game options/video settings, a profile is not your character for DayZ.

You can change name by creating a new profile in arma 2. Don't know if it works for Dayz. It works in other mods and vanilla.

Create a profile in vanilla ArmA2/CO, set your controls.

Then start up with the dayZ mod enabled.

Thats what I would do.

Sorry, I can not be properly formulated question. Is it possible to rename the default profile?

I have done so but using vanilla ArmA2, not while mods are loaded.

Make a copy of your original profile and rename to your newly created profile.

Copy and replace.

NO you cannot rename the default player name, it uses the name of the user from your OS.... No you can NOT change it.

You CAN however make a new profile and it WILL use the name (of the new profile) weather its dayz, arma with mods/addons, arma vanilla etc.... fm

Can I ask if changing your profile name (I've got my default name but am currently running with a different profile) makes you respawn back at the beach?

IE can you have different profiles in different states on the servers (one profile with a lot of good lewt and another one or two as starter beach bunnies)?

Not so, my default user has never been used.

The first new profile is plotted for ArmA2/CO.

The second is a modified version of the first "new profile" (TrackIR Helicopter Pilot).

The third is a modified version of the second profile, which is addapted to CQC and used in DayZ, with a modified TrackIR profile.

Im experienceing the same issue. Currently my charater has my OS name. But when I go into the charater profile screen to creat a new one it says Player 1 in name box. When I attempt to change this there isnt a way to delete or modify PLAYER 1. If I save this it changes my OS to PLAYER 1 and is stuck that way after. Ive changed the profile files in all the various locations but am unable to this day to get any thing custom other then the OS name or default of PLAYER 1.

also Ive changed my OS name in various locations on my PC and re installed the game it still took to the original OS name some how.
