Increase the need for food and water

Recommended Posts

I might be thinking this all wrong as its only half way through my 12 hour night shift.

If the need to consume food and water was increased i think we would see a different game all together.

For example if by increased physical activity and the shock of combat you were required to consume more food and water and the can spawns were reduced with just a slight increase in wilderness animals, coupled with a reduction in the amount of weaponry and ammo available i think people's priorities would shift more into surviving than shooting.

Edit: just re-read that i might be talking dribble

All the more reason to kill people on sight for beans and sodas.

Not really if your lacking in food and/or water and the need for it increases due to the "stress" of combat and your also a tad low on ammo it might be time to think rather than just act

maybe if there were more fortification objects available the game would become more interesting ( like more tents, more sandbags, more barbed wire, adding in larger tents and and adding lawn chairs that could hold 2 sodas each )

I would vote to leave water and food as it is. It wouldn't be very realistic to be eating every 15 minutes. That would just increase the apce of the game, etting you the whole time running for food and water and actively killing others to get some more. Also in a "realistic" point of view, you get hungry fast enough.

Not saying every 15 minutes just increased physical activity and stress would require you to need more

I'm pretty sure I'd kill people for beans were I low on food and water, as I'd be screwed either way.

Haven't timed it yet, but I would say you eat currently every 40 minutes to 1 hour. I wouldn't eat that fast even if I was sparring all day.

I think its already fine for food now. Whats the point of eating more? Kinda removes the purpose of trying to find better crap if you cant make it two towns away without 2 meals and 4 drinks, so much wasted inventory space for the rest. Sorry, but I dont agree with this, its just going to hinder people from moving around the map.

I can understand the need for more water, but why should i need to eat every hour? If i eat three steaks i wont need food for two days!

its already to much that you need, you can live 3 days without water and food for more than a week,

I'm a massive supporter of this kind of notion. It would create far better gameplay, and killing for a damned good reason, is better than killing beccause you felt like it. Think about it.

I always go back to when food and water wasn't spawning due to a bug some few patches ago, as an example of the fun gameplay this would create. I have to say, that bug was when this game was most memorable for me. I teamed up with a total stranger to scavenge for food. We both spent our entire gametime searching for food, whereas normally we would've just sat around shooting people, because that is the biggest reward.

Sure, we could've just waited for guys to slip on by and shot them, but, if we were struggling for food and water - why would I be certain that this guy we're going to kill would have food and water enough for TWO people? Why sit around for 45 mins to take that chance, when we could just actively hunt for it via animals/ponds. We got shot at once, but we were so keen to survive that fight, because we'd put a tonne of effort into survivng beyond the first few starvations/dehydrations.

Fighting became a struggle, and PKing against us wasn't just griefing, but you know, actual survival. Ofcourse, if we had been killed, the guy would've been disappointed to have wasted his ammo to find no water or food.

this is not about realism. you do not play the game for 24hours a day, 7 days a week, all year. The game needs to simulate dehydration/starvation in a way that makes the gameplay challenging. When we all start living inside games, I will agree with you - but until then, I do not.
