Stop calling yourself a bandit

How about bandits? Bandits?

No, because they aren't bandits. Have you even read the thread?

But that is the terminology that this mod uses to describe players that kill other players. It is counted as a bandit kill instead of a murder when you eliminate one. A bandit count is also recorded on the homepage of the website.

It's fair to say that it is the single most correct word to use in both game and community terms. While they normally, perform all the things that fit under the vague category of a bandit (such as gambling, hold-ups, pickpocketing). A. It's still possible and B. Murder and corpse-looting by no means discounts someone from being a bandit. If anything they'll be exhibiting more bandit behavior from the act.

But... they are bandits. Haven't you seen what the game labels people as if they've killed another player?

Well you're not a omgwtfbbq, but that's what you're called.

Technically every character is a survivor, but I don't hear you asking for people to be called "good guys" or "citizens".

Just because the game and its developer say that they are doesn't make them one. Everybody simply agrees. You have to look past that agreement to see what I am saying.

At some point, a military man decided that the word "bandit" also applies to enemy aircraft.

At some point, a game designer decided that the word "bandit" also applies to murderers in his game.

It's also not the first time that murderous characters in a game have been referred to as bandits. See STALKER. See Metro 2033. See any D&D game.

please, if you're going to kill people, at least stop calling yourself a bandit. Call yourself a killer. Call yourself a murderer, I really don't care. But I'm sick of people posting things that say "I am a bandit" or "Bandits like me".

Make up a name for all I care. Feel free to throw in any suggestions below. You are not a bandit.

Fair enough, you brought a dictionary to a gunfight.

But what about all these survivors who come crying on the forums because they were killed by a bandit (eh...whatever we call them now). They call themselves "survivors", yet they didnt actually survive at all.

What shall we call those people from now on? Perhaps your dictionary has a new name for them?

Let's call them... prestidigitators.

People, just because the term "bandit" is used [in-game] currently for anyone who murderers a clean survivor, doesn't mean it has to be so.

The true bandits, such as the OP I believe, have an idea. If enough people stay true to this idea, it will become a reality.

You can kill those who attempt to enforce the idea, but you cannot kill the idea.

I encourage those who play the way they play because of this particular idea to keep doing so, REGARDLESS of what people say.

Just because the game states that you are a bandit for murdering people, it doesn't NEED to be so.

OP (oh-pe)

n.

1. A faggot

There are two types of players. Survivors, and Bandits.

Survivors help other players and only shoot other players in retaliation or self-defence.

Bandits kill other players and will do so whenever they want with or without reason.

Theoretically, no.

I don't call myself a bandit, the game does. When you kill other players, you are labeled a bandit by the game. Thus, why you get bandit kills when you kill a guy who murders people all day.

I understand where you're coming from though. I do like the idea of robbing people instead of killing them, to EARN the bandit title. Sadly these days robbing people is fairly hard to do. The few times my friends and I have tried to just rob a guy and let him go, it always ends in a death or two. That or an abrupt alt+f4. I think real banditry will make a come back later on when the game is a bit more *fixed up* Till then, everyone will kill on sight and be a self proclaimed bandit.

Till then, I'll try and rob and leave them living when I can, but if you even turn around with that .45 in your hand, or I think you have a buddy in the tree line with an as50.... All bets are off.

I am by no means the correct or incorrect term of bandit, lol. Avoiding other players like the plague isn't really what I would consider banditry. I have also never robbed anybody. See this shitty screenshot from a few minutes ago. Sitting down, making a fire, having some steak. This is pretty much how I've been playing this whole game.

It seems like the entire problem here is that the original poster has never heard of "slang".

Hey guys, I think we need to take him seriously. He pulled this from dictionary.com. GG.

Oh wait, Merriam Webster:

1. An outlaw who lives by plunder; especially: a member of a band of marauders.

2. Robber.

3. An enemy plane.

I imagine 1 and maybe 2 fits the bill quite nicely.

If a script kiddie spawns a jet, is he a bandit?
