Shouldn't humanity reset when you die?

One thing I don't quite understand is why after I die my humanity level remains the same. You are supposed to start with a completely new character yet for some reason the only thing that clears out is your equipment, but not your persona.

The reason why I'm not convinced by this mechanic is because once I start up my options are very limited, I know that eventually bandit skins are going to be removed but until then I cant get close to any other survivors even if Im trying to play cooperatively, I have to continue playing as a bandit because otherwise Im just another survivor with a big "shoot me" sign over my head.

I guess what Im trying to ask is: Is this feature intentional? If so, what is the reasoning behind it?

Please note: I am not trying to change the game and definitely not proposing a "fix" or whatever, if this is the way it's supposed to be I'll deal with and learn to adapt, that's what survival is all about after all.

its to give players a heads up that you have killed survivors, its quite easy to lose if you dont go crazy and kill a bunch of people
